A large imposing building with an interesting interior feature
Sep 2015 • Couples
We had travelled past this imposing large building on a number of occasions but had never been inside. Seeing it listed as part of the "Heritage Open Days" prompted us to visit. It is an impressive very large open plan church. Apart from the size, the main feature is the Brangwyn Mosaics, which cover the whole of one wall behind the altar. These took six years (1910- 1916) to complete. The mosaics depict four periods in the life of St Aidan. The interior of the building is worth a visit to appreciate the imposing size as well as viewing the mosaics
