Long time since we visited this NT property, but have always enjoyed it's unique characteristics.
We braved the wind and cold and had a wander around the colour themed rooms.
The presentation of wrapped presents and festive ornaments was sensational. Being advised this was all the work of volunteers made it even more rewarding.
The quality was of a professional standard and was beautifully staged. Congratulations to all concerned.

This is a nice old house but the interior has been messed about with over the years. Consequently there is little of the original remaining. Nevertheless, quite an interesting visit.

Unfortunately, on the day we went - midweek in October - the Manor House was shut. From a distance it looked impressive.

As you drive into Avebury you are directed to this car park which is free for National Trust members.
It’s a good 10 minute walk down to the village and the facility’s at the Manor.
All the standing stones are easily accessed from here, with routes marked through all the fields.
The Manor was closed on the day we visited, but we went in the small museum and around the gardens which was holding a sculpture exhibition.

Typical NT gardens & facilties but the bonus of the unique & quirky Stones sticking up in surrounding fields. Some are HUGE Quite a sight & so many!
The Manor House itself was temporarily closed so check before you go if that’s your thing.
Astonishing how the tools used to dig the moats & huge holes for the stones were made from Antlers.

One annoyance is the distance from the Main Car Park to the NT toilets. If you’re planning to travel some distance & need the Toilets on arrival expect a further 10 minute walk from the Main Car Park to the NT Toilets. Quite a walk if you’re in extremis!

We arrived too late for entry to the house but visited the gardens and the couple of museums. The gardens are nice but nothing spectacular in comparison with many other NT properties. The museum was interesting and the coffee shop reasonable.
On its own, not worth going out of the way for but if you are visiting the stone circle then it's worth setting aside some time whilst in the village.

Very pretty little manor and garden, lovely for a picnic and with a national trust cafe right outside. Make a stop if you’re on a hike, and chill out here. Great set of knowledgeable volunteers too. Interesting back story.

Very enjoyable visit to the Manor and gardens. Gardens beginning to bloom although some areas still very overgrown due to lack of attention during Covid times. However, we had an amazing tour of the Manor and very much enjoyed learning about the history of this wonderful building from the well informed guides. Although it was not possible to share in the the usual interactive nature of this site, the NT have worked hard to ensure visitors still have access to the building and a very positive learning experience at The Manor. Thank you very much for your hard work.

The house wasn't open when we visited midweek however you can visit the gardens. Unfortunately they have not been cared for last year due to Covid so there are a lot of weeds to look at, so maybe only visit at the moment if you are a NT member as I wouldn't recommend paying. Hopefully they will be able to return to former glory in the next couple of years.

Visited the Manor Gardens (did not go on a tour of the manor itself) on a hot Sunday during half term but the gardens were quite quiet, especially compared to the stone circle and car parks in the village.

The gardens were pleasant but are still suffering from the Covid forced neglect last year which is a shame and meant that weeds etc are more prevalent than we would assume usual.

We spotted newts in the pond which was nice to see and provided a bit of a focal point for the trip.

Overall, the gardens are relatively small and only took around 20 mins but if you happen to be in the village and are a NT member (as entry is free for members) they are worth a visit.
