About
Hi. My name is Pat Shelley and I provide tours in and around the Stonehenge area. I take you on an exploration of the many sites which help to explain what Stonehenge may have been about across some beautiful countryside. Many people come back again with other members of their family or on the recommendation of friends. We can help out with transfers and travel arrangements to make your travel plans as smooth as possible. I look forward to meeting you.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My experience was bought alive by the museum which is not big but put the stones and area into context for me. By the time I had walked to the actual stones talking about the history I was quite feeling quite humbled.
For me the traffic passing so close by on the main road was a big distraction.

Salisbury is not only an excellent centre to stay for visiting the prehistoric monument of Stonehenge, the city itself is quite unique in its rural surroundings and caters for all age groups.
Excellent restaurants are found all over the city, the old market place is still active and great for fresh vegetables and fruit to snack on during your walk about.
Salisbury cathedral is over 2000 years old and holds one of the four original hand written versions of the Manga Carter signed by king John at Runnymede on 15 June 1215.
The 14th century clock is the oldest working mechanical clock in the world, set in one of the finest architectural structural's in the UK.
Near by is the world famous Neolithic period Stonehenge, constructed some 5000 years ago and visited by over 1 million people every every year.
It is busy yes but you can find the time and space to take in the solitude and the immense significance of the structures, you can feel the history.
The visitors centre is an excellent introduction to the historical site and seasonal images are eye catching and absorbing.

We booked this post-cruise tour through Viator, and it also included Windsor Castle.
Our guide, Robb, is one of the best guides we've ever experienced. The tour was everything we hoped it would be. Highly recommended.

Puts the dawn of modern age into perspective. Windswept hill top, dress warm. Well managed historic site but I can’t imagine the crowds in summer.

I am not a tour guide kind of traveller. That being said, after having spent part of a day with Pat Shelley I highly recommend him if you are considering a visit to Stonehenge. There are many ways to visit Stonehenge but if you want to experience the history, and the greater landscape a visit with Pat Shelley as your guide should not be missed. You'll come away with such a better appreciation of Stonehenge, the history behind Stonehenge, and the surrounding history.

We took the tour primarily to see Stonehenge. We were fortunate that it was not too crowded at the time we were there. Very informative visitor center. Audio guides available that you can use as you tour the site. Salisbury was beautiful.

We did the late afternoon Stonehenge Special Access Tour led by Pat Shelley out of Salisbury. (By the way, Salisbury, itself, is worth a day's visit.) Pat is a wealth of knowledge and his enthusiasm is contagious. The tour was paced about right and ended with us walking up to Stonehenge through a sheep pasture just before sunset. We then were allowed to walk among the stones as the sun set. I recommend this tour to anyone who might only have one chance to see Stonehenge. If you are only going to do it once, might as well do it right!
