The tour has a hop on/ off system with two stops in Salisbury, one at Stonehenge, Old Sarum and the cathedral. You can buy tickets that include the Cathedral as well if you want to visit that.
This worked really well. I’d suggest you make sure you come a little early and take the stop at the station if you want to sit upstairs in the bus (upstairs, front seats if you’re really eager to have the best views). If you take the later stop in the town center, upstairs might be full already (certainly for the first one at 10am).
The audio commentary that was included was really nice, the bus driver very friendly and helpful. And certainly when it’s hot, this gives you a painless way to visit all three great monuments.

This is just a review of the tour bus transportation, not the Stonehenge site. There are other ways to get to Stonehenge, and you should probably choose one of those. My main complaint is that the earliest of these buses departs Salisbury train station at 10:00. We didn't get to Stonehenge until about 11:00, by which time it was pretty crowded. We would have preferred a bus at 9:00 or even 8:00 (the site opened at 9:30 when we visited in late August). Next, the audio tour didn't work at all on the way to Stonehenge, and cut out after a couple minutes on the way back. I see this has been mentioned in other reviews, so is a consistent and unaddressed problem. Also despite being on the first bus in the morning, the bus was dirty and the windows smudged and covered with bugs. So the bus is not cleaned overnight. Finally, we also paid for the Old Sarum visit. But in this case you are dropped on the main road, not driven up the hill to the Old Sarum site. This could be an issue if you aren't prepared for the uphill walk. If we did it again, we would just get a taxi to Stonehenge timed to get there at the opening.

Certainly this is the way to go from Salisbury to Stonehenge. I would recommend arriving about 10 or 15 minutes before the bus leaves to ensure you get a spot. It was pretty full for the first pick-up at 10:00 am. Completely seamless from the train station. The audio tour on the way there was nice. Don't forget to stop off at Old Sarum. The only thing I didn't love is where they drop you off for Old Sarum. It wasn't completely clear where to go from the drop point.

First of all this is NOT a tour. If I would now I would have taken a taxi, even if it is more expensive.
It's a normal bus, just plotted outside to make it look like something different.
"AUDIOGUIDE": this is a joke. They talked just 2 times, and because you can only change the language while the audio is on, you miss the first part and then you have no idea of what they are talking about. We learnt nothing from this audioguide.
HEAT: we waited around half an hour (I'll explain about this below) inside the oven that was the bus at the sun. We took the trip at the beggining of April with 14 degrees max. I strongly advise NOT to take this bus in summer as is completely unhealthy. It has small windows, no air conditioner, and not even all the seats has windows. Many people could get unwell, we were very close to that and to leave the bus.
TIME: it was delayed about half an hour because of this: people pay on the bus (like if it was a public normal bus), and not only that, the driver write by hand the booking numbers. One by one. I arrived with my tickets already bought, but had to wait for so many people paying inside the bus because they don't even have a point at the station to pay before boarding!
In one ofe the photos you can see the time and the background of Salisbury, that was the time that we should be arriving at Stonehenge, and the bus should have departed at 12:00.
Also the boarding is so messy, people don't respect the queue, is a dissaster.
I feel scammed as this is exactly the same (and worse) than taking a normal bus but paying 10 times more.
AH and also you have to take your own headphones (not suitable for Iphone) or ask the driver to give you ones because they don't give them to you without asking.
Don't waste your money on this please.

It's a scandal that this company has a monopoly on transport between Salisbury and the ancient monuments and has the cheek to call their 'service' a 'tour' (lol). Even worse that English Heritage recommend them on their website - they should be ashamed.
Paid £18.50 (no discount for online advance payments) a head to get to Stonehenge and Old Sarum from Salisbury.
The first ' Tour' was due to leave at 10:12 - it arrived 30 minutes late and there weren't enough seats so some people had to stand up on the bus. It looked like the driver was being trained by his grumpy mate.
Same grim crew on the way back and same overcrowding. I know the company will try to play the 'summer holidays' card but the increase in demand shouldn't come as a surprise to them should it?
We decided not to get out at Old Sarum for fear of not being able to get home later.
Avoid.

Booked tickets earlier in the month to coincide with a trip to Bristol.
Travelled from Bristol to Salisbury today at a cost of around £50 for my husband and I, stood in the rain waiting for the bus for close to an hour before calling the company and being put on hold for over 30mins while they tried to track the bus.
The operator came back on the line and asked if we'd checked the website as it clearly stated that no tours ran on the solstice. Asked him where.... he couldn't find it because that information is missing.
Thanks for a wasted day of holiday.

I thought I was being smart in avoiding a long uncomfortable bus ride from London to Stonehenge by taking the train. And that part was fast and easy. But once you get to the train station in Salisbury, the only way to get to Stonehenge is to take this bus (or I suppose a taxi).
We timed our train to arrive by 9:30, in order to make the first bus at 10:00 am. However, the driver kept waiting for more people to show up, in order to fill up the bus, so we didn't actually leave until 10:15. Then when we finally got to Stonehenge, he dropped us off with very little instructions on where to go. As a result, we ended up joining a long line with the rest of the guided tour bus groups. After spending 10 minutes in the wrong line, we realized we should have gone directly to the visitor's centre, as we had already pre-purchased our Stonehenge tickets.
Between the late bus departure and the mix up in lines, this cut into our overall time to actually see Stonehenge. The bus ride back to town seems to meander down some country roads that can barely fit a bus this size and makes a couple stops before arriving at the train station. Overall, it's a very slow trip, with an expensive price tag of 18 pounds per adult. I wish there were better transportation options. By the way, Stonehenge was great.

Booked the Stonehenge-Old Sarum tour, packaged together. Tour was to be Stonehenge first, followed by another drop-off at Old Sarum on the return, then back to the rsailway station.
It started off well enough, enjoyed the double-decker bus ride along with the commentary provided through the headphones we were given. The bus arrived at Stonehenge, and we were advised to come back to the same spot for pickup. The schedule is hourly.
Boarded the bus expecting Old Sarum to be the next stop, as that's what was promised and that's what we paid for. But the bus went directly back to town and the railway station.
When we told the driver "I thought we were going to Old Sarum" he said something to the effect that we would have to make our own way to Old Sarum via the city bus system.
Three of 5 people did not have time to walk all the way into the city and wait for a public transit bus, so only two of us actually did this. It was confusing to us to get there and back, as we did not know the roads or local transit system at all, plus it's at least a kilometre walk from the railway station to the centre of town and then back again. I don't mind the walk, but if I was not as mobile as I am, I couldn't have done it.
I feel that the driver should have been up front at the beginning if he had no intention of letting us go to Old Sarum, and we should have been offered a partial refund of our admission fees. We paid for Old Sarum admission as well as Stonehenge, but it was not delivered unless we were willing to get there on our own.

Guided tour was excellent. Chris "the storyteller" was exceptionally passionate and very knowledgeable. He explained all about the past history, how the stones had evolved over the centuries and the magical, mysterious stories. No matter what questions he was asked, he knew the answer. FANTASTIC 😊

This review refers to the after hours Open Access tour, where visitors are allowed to enter the stone circle with an experienced tour guide. We had Chris, who knows pretty much everything there is to know about Stonehenge, was friendly and helpful and so happy to chat. We had a brilliant time!
Downside is that it is quite expensive - when we went, about £51 per head, but definitely worth it.

Yes, the bus is a round trip with options for entry to Stonehenge, Old Sarum and the Cathedral. Each optional extra cost more but the bus ticket is a round trip starting from Salisbury Train Station - pick up from Salisbury city centre then straight towards Stonehenge. Return trip from Stonehenge to Old Sarum then back to Salisbury.

Why do 16 and 17 year olds have to pay the full adult price when they qualify for child admission to Stonehenge and Old Sarum? The combined difference in the cost of admission between an adult and a child is about £10, but this difference is not reflected in a corresponding reduction in the price of the tour.

Hi:
If we buy an All-in-One Stonehenge bus tour with admission to Stonehenge + Salisbury Cathedral:
-Is there a long wait time for admission to Stonehenge and are we tied to any specific admission time slot in Stonehenge?
-Also, starting from Salisbury Rail station: can we first hop off at Salisbury Cathedral and then hop on and go to Stonehenge?

If there is an allocated slot please be there at that time
Else the wait is not too long
The buses are frequent and the organization is exemplary
From the station - finish Stonehenge first and wind up at the cathedral as the refectory cafe is a nice place to wind up with a late afternoon lunch and Stonehenge looks nice in the morning certainly

hi may I check
1) the price of the bus from Salisbury to Stonehenge
2) how long usually it takes to around
3) how much is the tour bus?
Written 30 October 2018
You can find all that information at thestonehengetour info (there is a dot in-between but apparently I cannot paste a web site here). The local bus company (Reds) runs these buses.

Hi, can you please tell me if the bus tickets include the Stonehenge entrance too or not? Should i buy it separately?
Many thanks

It depends on which packages you book:
Bus only -> not included
Bus plus -> entrance, shuttle, audioguide included

Which tour company is good to join to go to Stonehenge?
Written 12 September 2018
No Company is needed if you cn find your way to Salisbury by train, the Stonehenge buses awaits passengers right at the station"s exit and cannot be missed as they have Stonehenge tastefully written all across the bus
