Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An absolutely perfect start to the day! We loved our trip down the river on the punt and would thoroughly recommend this for a special outing! The early morning was a great time to go as it was so peaceful and tranquil. Ed was delightful, very knowledgeable about the river, wildlife and the historical buildings along the way and yet also gave us time to just relax and enjoy it. The river views were stunning. This could not have been a more perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you so much!

This was a return visit and I loved it so much I bought the company. It’s so peaceful on the river and the colours are such a delight to behold as the sun reflects off the water and the trees show off all their different greens. It’s simply sublime.

How lucky were we! Having spent several hours in the car, we were definitely in need of a cold beer whilst sitting in the sun on the banks of the Avon in the garden of the Rose and Crown. Could life get any better? Just at that moment a punt drifted round the corner and came alongside - a bit like a scene from a painting or film. Naturally we started chatting to the young men with the punt only to find that they were booked up. However, when we said we were only there for a brief stay, we were offered a 10.00 slot for the next day so long as his brother Ollie could do it. And that is how we came to spend the most idyllic forty-five minutes on the most beautiful morning, just blue sky, sunshine and reflections and views better than we could have hoped for, all accompanied by either Ollie answering our questions or just the sound of the pole on the riverbed as we drifted along (and, of course the birds and the sheep in the fields). If you're staying at the Rose and Crown this is a must do; if you're not then do it anyway. You'll come away having seen unforgettable views of Salisbury and its impressive cathedral.

Simply awesome meander on the river seeing views not seen from usual pathways. Wonderfully relaxing and we are sad that we’ve not found this fabulous experience in Salisbury before. Can’t wait to come back!

Booked in advance by email, very easy and fast response. Turned up and they were ready and waiting for us. A relaxing and different activity in Salisbury, lovely to see so much wildlife Heron, trout, pike, woodpecker among others. Great to get a different perspective of Salisbury in such a calm and relaxing way.

We have had a couple of trips this summer and it’s been brilliant. It’s so lovely and relaxing watching the world go by with just the sound of the pole touching the water and the birds splashing around. Egrets, herons, trout, sheep, voles and so much more. I totally recommend it whether you’re looking for a romantic moment, an awesome back drop for photographs or a fun trip with friends. Ollie and B are great at adjusting their talk according to whatever the event needs. We took a glass of bubbles with us which they welcomed too.

I've just had a truly magical trip on the River Avon in Salisbury - courtesy of Salisbury Punting.
I was vaguely aware that there were punting trips possible 'somewhere near Salisbury' but I didn't think that they would be feasible for me as I am on my own.
I persevered with my research this time & managed to get useful information which showed that it might be possible.
I discovered that you could only pre-book for 2 or more people but that they accepted 'walk in's' if there was space.
I deliberately avoided a weekend as I thought it might be less likely for me.
I arrived at 10.15 am on a Monday & was delighted when they offered to take me immediately - alone.
I didn't even have to pay any surcharge.
My trip was just lovely & so peaceful.
I have lived just south of Salisbury for 35 years & have never seen this bit of the River Avon before (the land along the river banks on either side is all privately owned so there are no public footpaths/access).
Parking was easy (at the Rose & Crown Hotel).
The Rose & Crown looked a pretty good bet for a coffee/lunch afterwards with tables out on the garden area leading down to the river.
I'm happy to thoroughly recommend.
I will definitely be going again.
Thank you so much.

We picked the right day weather wise and thoroughly enjoyed our trip on the river. We were punted by Ollie and he was informative and entertaining. Not a lot of wildlife around but you can’t guarantee that, we were certainly chilled out and relaxed. Ollie was ably assisted by Bee at the hotel while we boarded and disembarked. We look forward to another trip when we visit Salisbury again, thank you guys. I hope I have spelt your names correctly.

How many fit in the punt

We had 4 but were told it could have been 5. Obviously depends on the size of the person. Not sure you could have five 6ft plus rugby players.
