- GuildfordRunnerGuildford, United Kingdom10 contributionsDress code rules need to be updatedIt is always a good day out to Ascot Races, and on days when it's not a big race going to the King George suite is great as it has a sense of luxury and quality, however I do wonder about the dress code rules, we we behind a lovely couple where he was celebrating his 80th birthday but did not have a tie, even though he was very smartly dressed. He was made to go and purchase a tie to gain access. What I find incredibly is that apparently shorts is acceptable, but how does this look smart, not sure who sets the dress code rules, perhaps it needs a reviewVisited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 May 2023
- AnaPiussiLondon, United Kingdom1,015 contributionsIf you enjoy horse race it is a must goIt is an incredible place to enjoy a day out. It has been my second year going for the Royal Ascot and it is a full day experience. In 2022 I liked more as I believed they were more rigid with the dress code. This year it felt it was total ignored. There are many food and drinks stands. Some restaurants. The race view it is really nice, by the seats or by the grass. If you enjoy horse race definitely you can go in any of the events during the year to enjoy.Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 20 July 2023

He races were good with always a view to the horses and there was space in the stands. I had a pizza which was delicious! Plus, queue wasn't too long as therw were multiple options for food and drink, if slightly overpriced. One fault would be that there were too many people vaping and they should be more strict on this rule. Also, there were WAY too many people and it was really crowded. Lots of bars and food outlets. Easier to get served by the Parade Ring. We had a roast in a Yorkshire pudding wrap with extra pigs in blankets and gravy. . Beef was amazing and the staff managed the queue well. Great value at £9.50 and was a meal in itself. Generous servings. The staff were great - Hogan, Carmen, Connor and George. 👍Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 26 November 2023

AWFUL. We went to Ascot Racecourse for the Christmas Fair and what a disappointment it was. The organisation was appalling with only one car park open and very limited disabled parking. Once we got into the venue we were told the lift wasn't working so the only option was several flights of stairs for my disabled mother. When we got to the top it was PACKED! Im not exaggerating. It was far too overcrowded and a definite health and safety risk. We left after only 20 mins never to return. With the the space this racecourse has in the main building I dont know why they had this fair in a secondary building thats not big enough. What a joke.

We went to the fireworks part of the family day. The parking was difficult in soft muddy ground, then there is a long walk to join a long queue for a bag search. We were in the queue for almost 45 mins with 2 small children. When we got through it was difficult to maneouvre around the crowds and, after joining 2 long queues for drinks, were told that they had completely sold out of wine! What activities there were for small children were either closed or had long queues for them. We couldn't wait to get out but even that took forever with the poor marshalling.
The fireworks were good but we will watch from afar next year!

We chose to go to the Ascot fireworks race day because it was a birthday - so we paid the extra for the King Edward enclosure believing the "superb view of the track", "access to premier bars and restaurants" and "additional spaces and amenities" ... er? It was rammed, every seat taken, mess everywhere (on the tables, under the tables, food on the floor) and rubbish overflowing. Honestly it was like being in a motorway service station after a children's party. The firework display was very good, but accompanied by awful generic dance music - we couldn't wait to get out of there.

As an annual visiter to Champions Day, this year really disappointed us. We felt the vast amount of space/seating area specially designated for the Club26 members meant there was hardly any seating area for the remaining visitors. We had brought a picnic like we have always done in previous years, but found nowhere to sit to eat this. We felt that more picnic tables could have been moved to the 'picnic area', as it was impossible to sit on the ground in such wet and saturated grass.
We felt it was too busy, not enough seating and Ascot have clearly put too much emphasis on gaining a younger crowd and in that, have alienated regular customers. Due to this, we will be changing our annual race meet to a different event.

This is a difficult one to review. The racing here is generally first class and the venue is one of the best in Britain. The problem here is that the level of service is just appalling and I’m not judging this on one experience, it’s been the same for the last few years.
The bar staff are, in the main, shocking, not knowing how to even pull a pint. Good luck if you want a Guinness! They don’t know what drinks go in which glasses and are ridiculously slow.
There are a number of different food outlets. If you find a decent one then please let us know. Whatever happens then do not use the Horseshoe Bar in the King Edward V11 enclosure. I sent my food back there twice today, stone cold and a health hazard.
You pay top prices when you go in to Ascot, and they really should be able to do this better.

Hi we are going to the Parade Ring restaurant for a race day in January and I’m not sure if there is a dress code? Is it smart casual in January and do the ladies wear hats/fascinator? Thankyou

Hello
For the jump season at Ascot ,Ladies generally like to dress for a smart occasion.Whilst this style of dress is preferred during the jumps season ,it is not compulsory. Gentlemen wear jacket with a collared shirt and tie
Have a good day

I am due to visit royal ascot on Saturday 22nd June and have ticket for the Windsor Enclosure. We are due to arrive close to the first race and wondered if we bring a picnic and blacker etc there will be plenty of space? I obviously know seats etc go quick but in terms of size is there always somewhere to pitch up.
