Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went to BCA zoo for the zookeeper experience , it was a three hour long , unforgettable experience that i highly recommend. First we made the animals food with the keeper Emily, then we went to feed the animals which included: otters, skunk , meerkats, porcupine, axolotls and many others. I really enjoyed being up close and hand on with the animals, my favourite was the meerkats because they climbed up onto my head and they were very friendly. Emily was very nice and informative.

This was a great place to visit with our 17 month old grandson. We were there for nearly three hours! Lots of things to see, a small cafe and lovely staff.
Really well kept up, plenty of places to wash hands. Not too busy and the animals seemed content.

We visited the zoo for the zoo tour and squirrel monkey experience. From start to finish, it was fantastic. Our guide was brilliant, so knowledgeable and clearly passionate about animals. We were a small group and were not rushed, giving us time to see all the animals. The guide also fed the animals so we got to see animals which in other zoos may have been hiding away. Seeing the porcupine come out of its’ enclosure to come and say hello was a highlight.
The squirrel monkey experience was equally as good. We got to make enrichment activities for them then go in and feed them. They were so friendly and again the guide was so helpful and knowledgeable on them. We didn’t feel rushed and it was so lovely being just us and one other family.
A great place to visit.

An absoloutley fantastic place to spend a morning out.We went on the 10am BCA tour and it was amazing. We were firstly impressed with how grand the building and how big the complex was. Also the tour guides Ellie and Emily were amazing, they went thoroughly in depth about the animals and they were so so so friendly. The animals were so cute,I loved seeing the monkeys especially they were all so adorable and cute,I loved learning about that they do an hour of school each day,it sounds like some of the cutest things ever. Also I enjoyed seeing the meerkats, birds and the porcupine. They were all so so so cute and very interesting animals. Also the reptiles were adorable as well there was lots of very interesting reptiles as well.I so enjoyed my tour this morning and I would definitely reccomend it.

More lemur than lions and you won't see the big 5 but great for the under 5s
Pre booking only £8 a head two sessions per day. We went last saturday 1pm to 4pm 2 adults and 2 grandchildren. Plenty of free parking though signage a little dodgy. Booked in and stated with bug room (skipped the face painting as children not fans)
Displays models colouring and the young lady in situ most helpful and knowledgeable Qs from 8 year old can scorpions sting themselves / what ones are the most poisonous Q from adult where is the cafe? Etc etc
Had lunch in the cafe sandwiches pasty tea cakes.. not dear
Out to see the animals meerkats a favourite and raccoons otters snakes geckos porcupine monkeys and farmyard favourites sheep goats ducks could do with some pigs
Not Marwell but local and fraction of the cost and well worth a visit
Tiny gripe the hand wash water by the goats was too hot and no bin for the tissues

Our Meerkat Encounter earlier this month was for my eight-year-old niece and three of her friends to celebrate her birthday and was a great success. Not only did they get a fantastic amount of time in the Meerkat enclosure interacting with the Meerkat mob and Denzil the Porcupine but they also got a fantastic and informative tour of the Zoo Courtyard and Exotics House.
Emily, who was leading the encounter, was extremely knowledgeable and great with the kids and adults alike. I would highly recommend it - a great experience for any animal lover.
Just be aware it's pre-booking only, so you can't turn up on the day.

We love coming to BCA, the zoo guides are always so knowledgeable, engaging and great with the children. This time we attended the Elf workshops and the girls loved making treats for the animals, and delivering them into their enclosures. Will definitely be back throughout the year.

Hi, Is it possible to book for this week a visit to the zoo including the meerkats and reptiles experiences?
Hi,
My 6 year old son and I are on holiday here till the 25th of April'18.
We'r very keen on enrolling for the zoo tour and meerkats encounter.
1) How much will be the cost for both activities?
2)Do I need to book as part of a group or can I book independently?
Thanks.

Hi Joelle,
unfortunately the minimum age for our meerkat encounters is 7 however if you get in touch with us at zoo@bca.ac.uk we can get you booked on for a zoo tour for £5 per person or alternatively we offer reptile experiences which include a zoo tour for ages 6+ for £20 a person.
Many thanks and we hope you have a wonderful holiday.
