We enjoyed a couple of hours at the museum last week. Staff were very attentive and helpful. We particularly enjoyed learning about the Air Transport Auxillary service, with its local HQ in nearby White Waltham . My friend also enjoyed the Spitfire Simulator and appreciated the information and guidance from Stuart. There is a public car park immediately outside (2 hours maximum)

Successfully flew a spitfire and didn't crash! Fascinating experience learning about the women and men of the ATA. We got a personal tour of the small museum and the guide was very knowledgeable with lots of interesting stories and memorable characters. The spitfire simulator was impressive with all the working levers and immersive virtual environment. Thankfully we were in capable hands and the instructor was experienced and patient. A great afternoon out!

A wonderful couple of hours at the Maidenhead Heritage Centre today enjoying both the atmospheric Spitfire simulator and the fascinating ATA (Air Transport Auxillary) exhibition the pioneering women who delivered over a hundred types of planes alongside their male colleagues.

A very small museum with local history displays, but the best thing is the spitfire exhibition and simulator on the first floor. A good display about spitfires in the local area and airfield, and an engrossing go on the sophisticated simulator - it's worth paying for that bit, as you get tutored on what to do. We got a hugely experienced ex pilot who made it feel like a personal flying lesson.

Anyone would enjoy a visit to this delightful museum. It is rightly popular for its Spitfire simulator flying experience. I don't know anyplace else that lets you sit in a real cockpit and learn how to pilot an iconic fighter aircraft. The rest of the museum is fascinating, too. It's the best place to find out about the Air Transport Auxiliary, the brave organization based in Maidenhead during World War II, which delivered all the top military planes to RAF air bases. Men and women from around the world did this dangerous job, and the centre tells their stories in a personal way that will interest people of all ages. The volunteer staff is knowledgeable and makes the visit even more fun. Highest recommendation!

The best museum experience I have been to in years. So small, but a great range and so well explained. (War, Olympics, Trainlines).
The spitfire simulation experience is fantastic. And the volunteers that show you how to do it are so knowledgeable about the history - it was wonderful hearing their stories, which brought it to life!
Very educational for me, my wife, and our 2 girls (9 and 6...though the 6 yr-old got a bit bored at the end....however we did stay for 2 hours, so I'm more than happy with that!)

Amazingly good and beyond expectations. Very realistic terrain and first class instruction from an experienced pilot with several thousand hours of flying large aircraft.. l went with a friend yesterday who was originally from the Southampton area and was amused to be landing over his Mother-in-law's house.

What a lovely free experience to do during the holidays. My teen & pre teen absolutely loved flying the spitfire and haven’t stopped talking about it since. The gentleman who works with the Spitfire was so knowledgable and gave the kids fun things to do like flying over Wembley or through London Bridge.
The ATA information was really interesting and something I knew nothing about.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, highly recommended

Lovely little centre, with free admission. Lots of information about practically everything to do with the area. The Spitfire experience, which is pre-bookable and there is a fee is absolutely brilliant. Loads of interesting information about the ATA before you 'fly' yourself. Great experience I would recommend to anyone. A big thank you to the lovely staff who made us feel so welcome. Well worth a visit.

how much is the entry fee for adults n kids under 16 please

Hi, so sorry that your question seemed to have slipped through the net. Our usual Trip advisor person has been off sick for the past few months. Anyway, it is absolutely free entry to the ground floor exhibitions. The entry fee for the ATA exhibition is £3.50 for adults or £3 concessions, and that is an annual pass. Our spitfire simulator is just £7.50 for a 15 minute flight.
