Legoland on a Saturday or school holiday day is a totally different experience to a school day visit. If your child is still at nursery age then go on a school day, if in school then try an inset day when some are at school and some aren’t.

Without fast track tickets (which are horrendously expensive) you queue for a VERY long time for very short rides and your day can easily be consumed with only a handful of rides. If you add to that looking for lunch somewhere and time to sit and eat etc it will be gone in the blink of an eye. Under those circumstances you need 2 days.

Bring your own food and drink in a backpack and eat lunch while you enjoy one of the awesome shows or the Duplo puppet show. Even queuing for an ice cream took 20mins, getting shop bought icecreams from the mall shop in the Heartlake City area may save you some time as well.

Legoland is on a hill, going down from the entrance. To make the best of the day arrives as it opens, don’t take the hill train and instead walk quickly all the way through the park to the Mythica zone (which is new and has some of the longest queues throughout the day). Getting there before most other people is your best chance of the shortest queue.

If you are staying at one of the two Legoland hotels you enter the park from the back of Legoland (bottom of the hill) and you can enter into the Mythica area or next to the Deep Sea underwater sea life ride. If you are doing the park over 2 days you can go one way one day and the other on day 2 so you are getting to 2 different sides of the park first.

Both the Lego Friends Sealife and Pirate shows are amazing. The pirate one has acrobatics, high dives and an explosion. Both shows include a jet ski. Get there early on a busy day or you may need to stand. Also if you are facing the water sit in front of the toilets for the best view of the action. There are two types of very excellent puppet shows (11am-ish for one and 3ish for the other) in the Duplo puppet theatre. Both times are great snack times as well and they aren’t too long. Just opposite the theatre you can pick up a costa and there’s a great playground just there.

The park is full of grassy picnic areas. The one in the Heartlake area is right beside the train route so you can wave at the passengers as you eat your sarnies.

If you don’t mind sharing one straw with your family then you can buy a £15 cup at the shop (at the top of the hill as you are coming in or at the Heartlake mall shop) and then refill for free at all the refill stations. Iced drinks with huge choice (Fanta grape a personal favourite) are amazing on a hot day and the whole family can share one. At £3 for a 500ml bottle of coke in the shops it wouldn’t take long to spend the £15 elsewhere. The refill points are marked on the map. These refill stations do give free ice and free water to anyone so use it for that. Note the ice runs out quickly on the machines.

We found using the app map alongside the paper map made the best sense for us.

Now for rides. There’s a lot of choice and depending on the age of the children or your families tendency towards traditional vs technically advanced rides you will have different opinions. We found the Fairytale Brook ride (Duplo Valley area) surprisingly lovely and actually went on it twice. We were surprised there never seemed to be a queue. The Dragon ride (Knights Kingdom Land) was actually amazing. A great Lego ride through followed by a traditional and excellent rollercoaster. The Deep Sea Adventure (LegoCity Area) was absolutely stunning. Basically you board a submarine and then go off. At first you are in a tunnel with the odd shark that snuck through the sea doors and then it opens up for a short time so film and enjoy straight away as it goes pretty quickly. It was really different, nice and cool and totally indoors. Other rides that were worth a mention include the Skyrider (with views above the miniland), Coastguard HQ (LegoCity) because it’s great to let the kids steer the boat and the Driving school (LegoCity) is a hit with the little ones - one for under 1.2m and one for over that. The Balloon School (LegoCity) was cool and the Fire Academy (LegoCity) was physical group fun for the family.

Note if your children aren’t fans of Ninjago then don’t bother with the ride - it scared our 4 year old and felt more like a video game then a ride plus it had huge queues.

Overall we enjoyed it and would do it again but not on a Saturday in the sun. We will stay in legoland hotel, do 2 days on the park over 2 inset days and maybe do it with another family as well.

We travelled quite a way to go to Legoland with my 4YO. We did enjoy it and there was nothing horrifically wrong with it but we were just a bit underwhelmed.

My first gripe is that it closes at 4pm. I find this entirely too early as you only get 6 hours to go on all the rides. Even during term time when we went some of the queues were long so you're struggling to get round everything.

One or 2 of the rides (mythika and ninjago) are quite impressive and unique by uk standards. However, ninjago was let down by the fact that the so called 'game' element of it simply didn't work.

Some staff were lovely and interactive. Many couldn't even be bothered to crack a smile or work at faster than a snail's pace. Honestly the smaller themepark nearer to where I live has much friendlier and dedicated staff and they charge half the price for admission...

All in all it wasn't an awful experience by any means but I'm just not itching to go back. I personally much preferred Paultons for this age group who have a visually much cleaner and much more impressive park (despite legoland having the advantage of basically being made of freaking lego) They have better rides, less queuing and are open for an extra hour too... sorry Legoland but you haven't really won me over

I've just returned from an absolutely disastrous and quite frankly super upsetting day at Legoland and I feel so strongly about how much of a joke, money making place legoland is. I hate the idea that other families are being entirely ripped off unecessarily.

I am a mother to 3yr old twins. I had 2 free Sun tickets and naively didn't expect my kids to be over 90cm. They were so fair enough I was expected to buy an additional ticket. This ticket was £62! Legoland capitalise on the fact that customers in this position are absolutely not going to sack it off and go home because the ticket prices are such a rip off. I paid the £62 ticket price.
I then met up with 4 friends who each had 1 child. They were in the same situation as I was, they had 2 free Sun tickets (one for each of the adults and none for the kids). Once they were through the gate they each told me that the staff member on the gate had advised them to go online and purchase an adult and toddler ticket for £25 - decent service to advise a customer on how to get a better deal so kudos to that member of staff. I decided to speak to someone at the end of the day as our kids were keen to get on and have some fun.

Once our day finished I made my way to guest services with two very tired toddlers and explained what had happened, all the while one of my sons was having a bit of a meltdown. I was fobbed off by "management" saying he couldn't refund the £37. Me and my twins were all very emotional by this time - £37 means a lot to a single mum but means nothing to Merlin. They offer so many deals and discounts that they could have shown some compassion - had I just purchased an adult and toddler ticket in the car park and gone to the gate with just one Sun ticket I could have got in for £25.

The problem as so many others have stated with Legoland is that they employ cheap, young staff who don't have an ounce of life experience and quite clearly drill into them that their job is to just sack off any customer service and just make as much money as possible. They know that Legoland will never lose custom no matter how many rubbish reviews they get and I hate that ethos!

While it is a very nice park for children and a good day out, the new reserve and ride system is awful. I am registered as disabled so can not stand for long periods of time so it is great that there is an option of reserve and ride, however I might as well not use it. It used to be you got a red stamp on your hand and went through the sit and it used to only be for disabled people and this meant the queues were very short and meant disabled people did not have to wait around too long. However with the new system of reserve and ride anyone can use it, they have to spend quite a lot of money on it if they are not disabled which is not worth it. This reserve and ride means you have to pick the next ride you want to go on and go to the assigned queue for it. You then have to wait the amount of time you waited in the queue until you can pick the next ride. This means you can only fit a small amount of rides in to your day. With anyone being able to purchase and use this reserve and ride it means the queue is just as bad as the normal queue. This is hardly ideal or acceptable for disabled people as they can not stand or wait that long and might as well have waited in the normal queue. It would be much better to have a third queue system for disabled people who can not stand for long and then have the reserve and ride for people willing to pay for the silly app. I had to wait at least 50 minutes for three rides meaning I was very tired and worn out due to my disability and therefore could not do much else. I feel disabled people deserve better. Besides this silly reserve and ride the park is a lovely day out and has a good atmosphere.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a TripAdvisor review following your recent visit to LEGOLAND Windsor Resort. We are sorry to hear your experience did not fulfil your expectations. We value and appreciate all guest feedback and we always strive to make a difference based on the feedback we receive. As always, wait times between rides will vary depending on the number of guests in the Park, the volume of guests accessing the Ride Access Pass, and the nature of the individual rides, which all have a limited capacity. We are very sorry for any prolonged wait times during your visit. Our rides and attractions team works hard to ensure all rides are operated as efficiently as possible. All rides and attractions must be cleaned regularly as part of our standard operations. Additionally the ride and queue line capacities have been modified to ensure guest and staff safety. We had a great day with two grandchildren ages of 11 and 4 something for both age groups.
Waiting time not to bad.
Staff friendly and helpful when asked for help.
We thought the fair ground type of stalls a real rip off at £6 a go. Hot dogs £7.50 each! Refillable cups for drinks worth every penny and will get them in the future.
We laughed all day and enjoyed so much we will be back.
See you some time in the future as the two children summed it up in the evening when we were in the hotel...Awesome.

Overall we had a great day. Except for hydra’s challenge.
We followed the directions for the RAP queue, waited 45 minutes and got to the end to find out that there wasn’t a lift like it stated on the RAP information so I had to walk down the steps.
Then when we finished and I struggled up the steps, I couldn’t get back down as the ramp was full and the wheelchair couldn’t fit.
The ride operator said that she would clear the ramp but that would have been VERY embarrassing for myself. Thankfully I can walk a little bit and my chair folds down so we could go under the railing and into the normal queue ramp that was empty.

You need to change the wording on the website.

Actually it was 2 days and an overnight stay in the Legoland Hotel…… -as an avid LEGO enthusiast (-despite being 54!), this was on the whole a thoroughly enjoyable two days.
Disappointingly some of the models and rides are now looking rather weathered and somewhat tired…. Some of the queues were a bit long for my 8 yr old son to be patient for, thankfully a couple had nearby/in-queue activities that smaller children could do while waiting….
Only one really unpleasant experience was the ‘Heritage Beetroot/Smoked Goats Cheese’ Starter in the Tournament Tavern, impressively brought to the table, placed in front of me, and with a very theatrical flourish, the glass cover was removed, to cause the contained smoke to swirl upwards in a delightful magical spiral,….-however the actual food itself tasted as if it had been steeped in stale cigarette-butts/damp ash trays, and was not palatable at all….. not even tasting remotely like any other smoked food I’ve had the pleasure of in the past, anywhere…. Real shame as the remaining food was very tasty!

My 8 yr old lad Joseph was absolutely overjoyed when he discovered his ‘birthday weekend’ was going to be spent at Legoland Windsor,….-he loved his overnight stay in a ‘Ninjago’ room (-with his own bedroom and tv), plus a quest to find clues to the safe combination for the surprise it contained!

He got to meet ‘Sharkboy’, whilst among the rides, and a pink ‘Lego brick’ character, who randomly appeared from the lift!,….-topped the weekend off with a visit to the ‘big shop’ to spend some birthday money on some Lego, a couple of plushy figures, ‘Sharkboy’ and ‘Kai’, a cup, a key ring and a lunch bag….. (-Daddy bought a cup and letting too!)…..

Great weekend…..
but PLEASE, get rid of the nicotine-smoke tasting Beetroot and Goats cheese!!!!
