About
Let me show you Windsor, with the largest inhabited castle in the world, official residence of the Queen. But Windsor isn't just the castle; there are mediaeval cobbled streets, including the shortest street in Britain, as well as Eton with its old fashioned high street, and Eton College, the world famous school that has produced 19 British prime ministers, just across the River Thames. And we did have quite a big wedding here in May 2018

Mike guided me on a walking tour through all of the great parks in the centre of London, Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, The Green Park and St James Park. This was my third tour with Mike the previous ones being Westminster Abbey and the London Imperial War Museum. The four hours were well paced with plenty of opportunities for photos, pit stops and questions as well as lunch. These parks are an incredible asset in the centre of London and I now have a much better understanding of their history. Others have made comments on Mile's professionalism and knowledge and I cant think of any words that would increase the praise.
Just before the tour I lost my hat and at the end Mike spent time taking me to couple of shops to buy new one. Exceptional service! John Cunningham

Mike,

Just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for last Saturday. Myself, Marie and our friends really enjoyed the tour and I have to say Mike was amazing with his knowledge – loved it, loved it, loved it.. (apologies again for all of the questions - I told you Marie was a “Tudor Nut” didn’t I !!! LOL).. 😊

Next time we go to Hampton Court we’ll definitely give you a buzz, just an amazing service and so worth it..

Take it steady and hope you have a great summer.

BR

Thank you very much Neil. Sorry for the delay in replying - I've only just seen this. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour of Windsor Castle. 'Nut' is a bit unfair - 'enthusiast' might be better!! Mike

Mike is a wonderful tour guide and a perfect English gentleman. We hired him for a 2 day walking tour of London and he customized the tour to our specifications. Also, before the trip, my husband and I both experienced some physical issues that hindered our ability to walk for long periods. Mike was so accommodating and patient as we had to take frequent breaks. His commentary regarding various popular sites was excellent, but also along the way he shared many interesting facts pointing out lesser known spots and acquainting us with English custom and etiquette. I would highly recommend Mike to anyone interested in a more in depth view of London and all it has to offer.

Thanks Alice. I'm really glad that you both enjoyed our time together. We undeniably packed a lot into 2 days. I hope to see you in London again, one day. Mike

Our group had a brilliant day touring Windsor Castle and town with Mike Armitage. From the moment we reached out to him, via the internet, Mike was not only informative and professional, but also thorough. He responded to our emails promptly. He provided detailed information of our tour options. His pricing was fair. Then, he went on to email us on how to navigate the tube to get to the train station. How to purchase our tickets to Windsor. What time options we had for trains. Where he would meet us at the train station. Finally, how to purchase our tour tickets on line. He contacted us several days before our scheduled tour to insure that all was in order and we were comfortable with our plans. In our opinion, he went beyond what one would have expected from a guide.
The tour itself was wonderful. His personality is engaging and his knowledge base of British history and the Monarchy was deep. Miles's greatest asset is his ability to present his information in an extremely entertaining manner. He kept us interested and engaged throughout the tour.
On departure, Mike reminded us that he is qualified to give tours throughout England. This is good to know. On our return visits to the U.K., Mike Armitage will be our go to guide to explain and teach us the rich and varied history that is England. Thanks, Mike for a brilliant day!

Thanks for your very kind words. I'm just pleased that you had an entertaining day. I'd love to see you again on your next visit to the UK, but please bear in mind that I'm only qualified to guide London and South East England. Mike

Mike took us on an afternoon tour of Windsor castle and Windsor. While exchanging e-mails before the trip, he suggested we do an afternoon tour as the crowds would be lighter than in the morning. I was so glad to have him guide us around the castle and share his vast knowledge of the royal family, the castle and this area of England. He is super friendly and kept my teenagers interested throughout the tour, we had a perfect day thanks to Mike!

I arranged a full day tour with Mike prior to my family's trip to London. He provided a robust tour of the city which familiarized us with the layout of the city, major and minor sites and practical experiences with the subways and buses which was very helpful for the remainder of our trip.

Mike was engaging, humorous and was committed to our having an exceptional time. He met us at our AirBnB and got to know us better and laid out a rough agenda for the day. We knew we were in the hands a true travel professional. We never felt we were being pushed.

He knew exactly when we needed to stop for a break and some nourishment. We particularly enjoyed lunch at a pub called The Albert. It had great food and a cozy atmosphere. It is one of the few Pubs with a Division Bell which rings to let any Members of Parliament know that a vote is going to be held. Mike also took us to a unique Coffee cafe called the Crypt which is located below a church. We would not have experienced these unique places without Mike's recommendation.

His deep knowledge of London was apparent, he showed us sites we would later revisit on our own because they were so fantastic. The remainder of our trip was so enjoyable in large part to Mike getting us off to a great start.

My recommendation to you:
> Book early, as Mike is in demand and popular
> Book at least a full day with Mike, you will kick yourself if you don't
> Make the most of your time with Mike, Tour the Major attractions on your own time. We asked Mike to escort us to the the Tower of London and the Churchill War Room. He did a first rate job showing us those places but, in retrospect, we would have preferred to let Mike use the time to show us the hidden and unique sites and points of interest, of which only he knows.

Mike was Fantastic!!!!!!!

Thank you for all your kind words. I'm glad that the family enjoyed out day together in London. I even managed to sneak in a little bit of Harry Potter to keep your daughter happy!

Mike was our tour guide in late March 2017 for Hampton Court and Windsor Castle. He truly knows his stuff and was very informative and willing to adjust as needed to schedules, traffic, etc. It was my second trip to England (my husband goes more often for work and once a year I get to piggy-back on his trip). We decided to splurge for a private guide as the tour buses did not have exactly what we were looking for and the reviews all said that by the end of the day they were rushing through the last stops. It was well worth the money and I looked at it as an investment into a great vacation.
Windsor Castle and the area was truly beautiful and Hampton Court--well, my goodness!! Talk about overwhelming! Mike got us through all of it. Even helped me find specific gifts family had requested. We also walked along the Thames side down to the back gate (Front gate if by boat) of Hampton Court. This is not something most people see since they arrive by car. It was as breathtaking as it was intended to be.

Mike also suggested a couple of places to eat in the area after we said goodbye. They were delicious. Who knew that British food was so good?

Should you be considering traveling in late March I urge you to check if the venue has switched from their off season schedule to their summer schedule. Some places switch early to extended hours and some don't. Case in point--While Windsor had switched, Hampton Court had not. I think April 1 is the official switch date deadline. Just a heads up!

Thank-you for your kind words. I'm glad that you had a great time, both at Windsor Castle and Hampton Court. and that I was able to help you make sense of sites that can seem a little overwhelming. You make a good point about checking the opening hours as they change to their summer times. It's easy enough to do with Google. I hope to see the two of you back in England one day soon.

We used Mike for guided tours of London and Windsor Castle. Both were excellent tours, and Mike is a obviously a very knowledgable guide. We enjoyed the time spent with him. Highly recommend a blue badge guide (like Mike) as they can customize a tour for you, and can point out many of the interesting details that others might miss. Especially if you are visiting London or Windsor for the first time, Mike can make your visit much more enjoyable. But I can also imagine if you have been to these places before, Mike could point out things that you would not notice on your own.
Thanks Mike!

Thanks Steve - I've just read this after a busy summer. It must be the time difference between here and Kentucky! I'm glad that the three of you enjoyed our tour in London and Windsor, and Sara enoyed her Strawberry Daqueri and trying to recreate scenes from the Harry Potter films!

Mike was our guide to London in early April and we loved every moment. His knowledge of London is amazing and he is a wonderful guide. We asked to see quirky unusual but historical parts of London as well as the famous places and that we did. An amazing nine hour tour that was well worth every penny. Thank you Mike for one of he highlights of our UK holiday.
