- bluebellretreat.glamping@gmail.comMalvern Hills, United Kingdom50 contributionsBreathtaking views & many routes for all abilities. On a clear day you can see Wales! The Malvern Hills stretches some 10 miles. My daughter and I walked the whole route over each peak stopping for a picnic and a view stop along the way. The weather was glorious and we could see for miles & miles. It was truly a worthwhile experience. There’s lots of lower paths for less able people starting from Great Malvern or Black Hills carpark. Lower Wyche carpark is ideal too as it has a tarmac walk up to the top.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 October 2023
- rosco2London, United Kingdom388 contributionsLovely viewsWe went to see the British camp hill fort. Car park was £5.50 for all day parking, no concessions. We were told the access path at back of car park was less steep so we chose that route. Long covid has more than cramped our style. Walk beginning was wet leaves but not too slippery. Further along it was a dry path in the open with a few benches. Lovely views but we were unable to finish the walk due to health issues. The dog was very keen and enjoying the walk and different smells after two days of rain. Clearly a hugely popular spot on a dry Sunday, both locals and tourists.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 November 2023
- JFuggBirmingham, United Kingdom54 contributionsBeautiful views, great walking day outWe went to the Malvern Hills for a couple of days as a young family. Despite a bit of moaning about hills the kids loved it. It’s so beautiful and the hills are well maintained and kept clean of rubbish which makes a significant difference.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 February 2024
- Mogster2014Abertillery, United Kingdom284 contributionsBritish CampWe walked up the British Camp on Easter Saturday. The people not gripe I would have is that there isn’t anywhere near enough parking. People were milling around waiting for others to leave which was a pain. Other than that, it is certainly worth visiting. The ascent was pretty steep but goes directly to the top with amazing views emerging as you go. Good excuse to stop and catch your breath as you go. Once up at the very top that’s the hard work done, we headed down towards the reservoir after this which was easy going, again with lovely views as you go. We had a sit down as we went and the whole walk probably took no more than about 1 1/2 hours. There were plenty of other routes we could have taken so will definitely come back some time to get some more fresh air.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 April 2024
- Tracy REssex, United Kingdom124 contributionsWorcester Beacon, MalvernWalked up to Worcester Beacon from Malvern. Highest point in the hills. Also walked to British Camp and back. Nice Wetherspoons in Malvern. Malvern is a lovely place to stay, we found free parking, lots of restaurants including Indian restaurants.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 August 2024
- Thomas L2 contributionsHike worth the viewFollowed the All Trails hike for Summer Hill and Worcestershire Beacon. The day was perfect - a bit glowery and blustery but not cold. The walk through the tress up to the hills was just fine - moist and soft under foot but not muddy. The hike had some slope - my legs felt it but not unpleasant. We hike a lot back home in Colorado and this was a mid-moderate slope. The view from the Beacon was spectacular. Rarely have I had a full 360 panorama from a single point out almost 20-25 miles in every direction. Just breathtaking. Car park was easy to manage but one of the dearer ones we have run into at parks in England. I would suggest planning a good long trek as there is only a single day rate - no shorter discounts.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 September 2024

Wow, i have driven along eh M50 for many years looking at the Malvern hills saying to myself, i must visit them. Well in April my wife and I did, having booked a local caravan site for a long weekend we set off to explore and boy do they not disappoint. There are so many trails and paths suitable for walking, running, or mountain biking. spread over around 10 miles there is so much space. The climb is gentle and not too difficult so even the inexperienced can easily make it to the top and the fantastic views which are truly far reaching. Parking is £4.60 for the day which goes towards the upkeep and defiantly worth it. A great day out.

There is a good car park that had plenty of space and good views. The parking charge was a minimum of £4.50. The machine accepted credit cards.
If you're not sure where to walk there are information boards with sets walks displayed. It seemed quite popular on the day that we went probably because the weather was very good. However it is such a large area that there was no problem with space.
The views from the top are nothing short of breath taking. Well worth a visit.

We walked up to Herefordshire Beacon (also called the British Camp Hill Fort) via a trail that took us from the car park down past the reservoir to Gullet Quarry and then up through the woods towards the beacon. A moderately difficult walk of approx 7kms but totally worth it once you get to the top.
Views across the area are stunning all around. My 5 and 10 year olds managed it without much difficulty. Near the quarry is a lady who sells refreshments and snacks which are great for a pit stop. Plenty of outdoor seating overlooking a wooded valley.
Once at the top, you can spend as much time before doing a quick and steep descent to the car park from where you started.

Great way to get the heart pumping and the lungs exercised. Different routes to suit most fitness levels although there are some roughish paths that can be challenging when wet. Often very bracing and windy at the top but getting there and hopefully the views make it totally worthwhile.
Very early morning is best as there are fewer people around and you get to enjoy the views over Worcester, Hereford, Gloucester and Wales at a more leisurely pace.

Beautiful walk to the Highest point on the hills at the Worcester Beacon. Took two hours return from the North Quarry Car Park (£4.60 for the day but you can park on the road free if preferred) going via the Sugar Loaf summit. We are regular walkers and would rate this an easy to medium difficultly walk safe for children and dogs!

I had downloaded the Malvern app, but as we were walking through the town I noticed a sign pointing to the Worcestershire Beacon, so I decided we should follow the route from here rather than my app! We came to a section in the road and no further signs, so I went on my instincts and followed the road straight ahead. We came to another point and saw people walking , so checked with them and they advised where to go. Once we were on the path further up the hills I used my map which became apparent to highlight certain landmarks. I chose to ignore the app on the return journey and ended up at the car park in which we should have started our walk. It was then 9 miles back to the town or to walk back up and over the hill, only around 2 miles. If you like an adventure just go with it, but would recommend the app to find the landmarks on the hill. Unfortunately we didn’t spend as much time at the top due to storm Ellen, but still a great day with outstanding views.

Expensive as we were only stopping for a snack at the cafe opposite (Excellent BTW).
I parked my car in the only free space at the far end of the car park. I immediately walked to the ticket machine where there was a small queue and purchased my ticket. On walking back to my car (no more than 3 minutes after arrival) there was an attendent photographing my car - I politely asked her to stop as I had a ticket in my hand. Having taken a photo of my reg plate she continued to step forward and take a photo of my dashboard. I Explained that by law I had ten minutes to decide whether or not to park on private land. She accused me of being rude. I asked her to delete all the photos as I placed the ticket on my dashboard. I hope she did.
This is really sharp practice on her behalf - and to be honest I wish I had actually been rude to her as it really upset me. Please train your staff on the law regarding purchasing tickets and the rudeness of continuing to take photos when the customer has clearly explained that they have paid.

Car park price is now £4.40 for the entire day which is ok if you intend to stay the day. The machine at British Camp does take card payments although it’s a bit hit and miss. Got a parking ticket whilst at the machine getting a ticket !!
Great walks and fantastic views, well worth the effort and finished off with a drink at the hotel.

There is lots of different places you can park and set off from, from paid car parks to just parking on the side of a road and walking that bit further.
We visited in October, so was on the colder side compared to the summer, but in a way the cool breeze and fresh air made it more of a comfortable walk to the top. Although once at the top it was a gale force and rather windy.
The views were great though from the top and you could see miles around.
The dog loved the walk of course. Loves being off the lead to run around, and there is zero cars or roads to worry about once you get away from the car parks.

Different parking areas & ways to get up to the top. Some routes are steep & some are less steep. Views are amazing. Can see for miles around.
Some of the routes start at a car park that charge £4.80 for all day & no hourly rate. Some routes you can park on a street with no charges.

Staying in Great Malvern can anyone recommend the best bits of the hills to walk .. assume the Worcestershire beacon but want a bit more than an up and down of that but don’t really want to spend the 5-6 hrs walking the whole range & getting transport back. So after the Worcestershire beacon where would be the next best point to head for .. ?

We walked from British camp (parking there was reasonable) to the end just past great malvern and found it lovely with great views and back this took us about 3 to 3.5 hours and it was great.

Hello, I’m a uni Student in Birmingham. Looking for somewhere to let loose post lockdown during a weekend. Are the hills relatively close to the 2 main train stations? If so which is best? Also is it achievable for a novice to reach the top in an afternoon or a day so i can get a train back not too late. Im originally from South Lincs (the flat lands) just wondering if its really steep and suitable for a novice like me thats used to flat terrain? I really hope its achievable as this place looks amazing!
Thanks in advance

Very easy to reach the top of the hills and back in an afternoon. Either train station works.

Hello,
I like to know which is the best car park? Is this car park at the bottom meaning a long difficult steep walk up for nice scenic views or which is the highest car park where a normal car can reach as I dont have a 4x4 car.
Which walk path is the easiest and gives the best scenic views in shortest walk time and where is the starting point of this route or is there a cat park next to it for easy access?
Can the Gullet Quarry be accessed by foot?
Lastly regarding toilets, which ones are open to the public and locations of these.
Finally for the best views that means a long steep walk up the hills? Whats the highest place for a car can park to shorten the walking distance?
Much appreciated,
Written 11 July 2020
Not been to Gullet Quary so cant comment on this.
If you’re heading to British Camp the car park is easily accessed but the walk from it to the top is quite tough going (no closer car park) well worth the effort as views are stunning. No toilet in car park but there is the pub / hotel across the road.
Another area is up around the Wyche Inn, couple of car parks here and a public toilet, not sure if toilet open at the moment.
There is a car park along Upper Beacon road, not too bad a walk up the hill for the views.
Hope this helps.

Which is the best car park? I'm not bothered about cost but the largest one. We're going with a baby in a carrier and need the space

Hi sorry about the delay..... yes I agree with the previous post the British Camp car park is the biggest. Its opposite the Malvern Hills Hotel which has a nice restaurant.

Would it be possible to take an elephant or tazmainian Gorilla to the top? I am currently looking after a couple for a friend and apparently they need regular exercise. Many thanks
Written 3 May 2019
Gorillas are more than welcome. I think there's a MHDC notice to that effect at the British Camp Car Park. There are several handy gorilla-friendly benches on the way up if there is any sign of gorilla fatigue. There are also some on the way down, too, which is nice. Dont forget to bring your own bread. If you want toast at the end of the walk you could put it under the gorilla.

Would I be able to get a pushchair to the top?
Written 24 December 2018
It’s a long way to the top and to be honest I’ve never seen anyone with a pushchair on the hills ever! Depends on how fit you are and what time of pushchair you have. I’ve seen people wearing baby carriers but never a pushchair so I’ll say no, sorry 😐
Written 3 January 2019
Yes it’s massive but you don’t have to do it all. There are regular places to park all the way up so you can just do as much or as little as you would like or are able.

Is this place suitable for under 2s?
Thank you for responses in advance

It is hilly but the paths are in good order. The scenery is beautiful but not sure a two year old will appreciate it; but you will!
Written 22 August 2018
Are the hills wheelchair accessible?
Written 8 August 2018
Defiantly NO, far to bumpy track narrow, hazardous and steep. Sorry to disappoint you but not recommended!.
