Well kept park with stunning views
Jul 2021 • Solo
This park is so well maintained spotlessly clean and plenty of seating. It is very steep so quite a climb to the top but the views when you are there make it worthwhile. It played a part in the civil war and the battle of Worcester and there are boards explaining this.

The Best View Of Worcester
Jul 2020
Great fun for the whole family. The play park [if open - lockdown restrictions may still apply] is excellent for the kids and the rest of the park, part of an English Civil War Fort is fascinating and lovely to wander around for all.

Little known park but a little gem
Aug 2019 • Couples
The history of fort royal park as part of battle of Worcester isn't really well known. Its a small, steep park but the views of the city of Worcester are spectacular. The commandery is at the bottom of the park.
In fact, it's due to the slope of the park from the top where the cannons were placed that saved the commandery. The shot slipped out the cannons so they couldn't destroy it.
Great little cafe attached to commandery too right by the canal.

Well worth the short climb

A well-tended park with great views over Worcester and the Malvern Hills in the distance. There are informative plaques explaining the grim events of the Battle of Worcester, when Cromwell’s forces overwhelmed those of Charles II. Sobering to think that thousands of men fought on this relatively small spot with over 1,000 killed.

Cromwell was here
Apr 2019
With its commanding views over the area, Fort Royal Park was the ideal spot for Cromwell to camp with his troops during the Civil War. Thankfully, there is no sign of them now, but the views are still spectacular. It makes an ideal picnic area, away from the bustle of the city, and there is a children's play area at the bottom of the hill.

Pretty park with great views of the Cathedral and Malverns (to reward the climb), lots of Civil War history and childrens playground, all hidden in the middle of the City.

Went on a hot summers day - really lovely location, have lived in the city for 6 years and this was the first time we have been. Will definitely go back next summer, probably take a picnic if it is allowed?

Very pretty park with beautiful views. Has a great children's Play area complete with Castle. It is very hilly so not suitable for less able bodied.
