Richard was amazing as we explored the quiet beauty of this unforgettable country. We were picked up in Cardiff and began our journey to Aberystwyth discovering the historical foundations of the Welsh mining industry along the way. We learned so much from Richard's abundant knowledge. Later that day, we went on a hike to a beautiful cascading waterfalls, and then stopped for a scrumptious lunch. Richard's knowledge of the hidden natural treasures enhanced our visit even further. As we travelled through the Cambrian Mountains, Richard brought us to Carreg Cennen, a majestic, rugged castle atop the steep sides of a crag. The view of the surrounding countryside with its sheep, ancient trees and Red Kites was sublime. I had mentioned that I had hoped that I might get a glimpse of the farm I had lived on many decades ago, and Richard made arrangements to visit which was such a joy to share with my family. Not far from Aber, we travelled to the beautiful natural estate of Hafod and explored the artistic picturesque principles and the splendid views. Richard not only was able to provide the artistic history of the estate, but also the inspiration it gave to writers and artists . On our way to Oxford, we travelled through the Elan Valley with its undulating hills and architecturally brilliant reservoirs . Richard is masterful in his knowledge and that coupled with his kind and thoughtful ways and good sense of humour made the visit wonderfully memorable. Diolch yn fawr!

Booked a full day tour of the Cambrian mountains, had a fantastic time throughout the day, Richard was very entertaining and knowledgeable took us to places we would never have got to.
Nermerous times we went where the general tourist would be unable to Tavel too.

Very helpful when we lost a phone over a view point on the Havord estate and arranged with the estate manager David a search, Who then climbed down to the bottom and forage around to retrieve it.
Big shout out to Richard and David for going above and beyond. And made one very happy customer, who got her phone back.

Very flexible and a great tourist guide with extensive knowledge and connections in the area would highly recommend booking a trip.

We spent the day with Richard as our tour guide and thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

It was our first time in the area and Richard had spent time advising and asking questions before our trip to make sure that the day was tailored to suit all of our needs.

We were comfortable, Covid Safe and relaxed throughout the day and Richard tweaked the content to suit us as he got to know us a bit better. We encountered beautiful views, eyebrow raising climbs and falls and, most importantly, peace and tranquility that we would not have experienced without this tour.

We would recommend Cambrian Safaris 100% and will be telling anyone planning to visit the area that they should book a tour and will be booking again when next in the area.

We plan on spending tomorrow taking Richard's advice and making the most of our time in this gorgeous place.

Thanks Richard!!

Richard is an excellent guide and we thoroughly enjoyed our seven different day tours with Cambrian Safaris in different parts of Wales during the first half of August.
We started in North Wales, Anglesey and Snowdonia National Park. Then we moved to central Wales based in Aberystwyth and then to St David’s in Pembrokeshire. We ended with a tour to Cardiff and then the Brecon Beacons National park.
Richard showed himself to be professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We are a family of four with two teenage children and Richard found something for everyone to enjoy. Part of the bonus is the flexibility that a private tour of this kind can provide where there is no need to rush or to accommodate or compromise on the itinerary with third parties. Richard makes a series of recommendations based on your interests and a great result emerges. He also goes off the beaten track to explore hidden gems not normally visited by tourists as well as the main attractions. We were so pleased with him that we took seven tours with Cambrian Safaris during our time in Wales.
I do not hesitate to recommend his services. Richard is passionate about Wales and we left the country with a distinct flavour of everything so wonderful that it has to offer.

We booked a trip in early September for six people and Billy Dog, from 12 years old to a 59 year old.

Richard was very informative and obviously has a great depth of knowledge about the area as well as the local history .

With some of these tours, we often find that the advertisement doesn't live up to expectations. With Richard's tour we actually went off road and found some stunning scenery which you wouldn't normally see if you drove yourself. It was a mix of single track roads, forestry roads and off road very uneven roads, these being the best for the views.

We can certainly recommend a tour with Richard, he is an extremely knowledgeable and nice chap. We will return sometime in the future to do another tour.

Richard is an extremely knowledgable and passionate man who obviously plays a vital part in his local community and promoting tourism. The safari was fantastic. We did the full day which was great value for money and took us around the valleys. We found some local gems to visit for our next trip. The land rover is extremely comfortable and it was fun driving across the roads which we wouldn’t normally be able to due to not having the right car. Well worth booking a trip and seeing the beautiful sites!

Absolutely fantastic! Would definitely recommend! Being chauffeur driven in a land rover is a fantastic experience. It meant we could just sit back and relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery (you can't admire the scenery whilst driving!). We booked a full day with Richard. We really enjoyed going off road up into the hills. We were amazed by the scenery! We were taken to places that we wouldn't have found by ourselves. We also stopped for lunch at a lovely cafe . Richard certainly knows his stuff - we learnt a lot! We had 2 children with us, and toilet breaks were not a problem. Thanks Richard, we had a fantastic time!

Pickup from your hotel, nice comfortable Land Rover Discovery and off you go. This time we did the Elan Valley visiting all the dams, the scenery as always is breathtaking. The dams themselves are quite awesome with torrents of water flowing over them and Richard of course explained how and why they were built. We saw the Wye, Rheidol and the Ystwyth rivers, which were in full flow due to the February storms. We also met some badger-faced sheep and as Richard explained, there are Torddu and Torwen varieties. Without doubt, this is the best way to do sightseeing and Richard's encyclopaedic knowledge is quite remarkable, much more than a tour guide, this is someone deeply attuned to his element.

Richard took us on a very enjoyable tour from the Silver Mountain Experience. He was very knowledgeable about the local history and wildlife and gave us an excellent tour setting the context and content of what we saw in an accessible and inspiring way. Our 2hr tour was all that would fit into our schedule, but I would recommend his half day or longer offers. We saw sights and views we would never have found on our own. Highly recommend

Richard provided 6 hours of fascinating local history and geography. We ( there were 4 of us and a dog) travelled through small villages and towns and then high into the hills with magnificent views, using Forestry Commission roads,.
Our trip included a one hour tour at ‘Silver Mountain Experience’
Our impression is that these tours into the history and landscape of Ceredigion and beyond can be tailored very much to people’s wishes.
An excellent day out.
