This was a surprise birthday gift. Richard tailored the guide to our interests and nothing was too much trouble,. Showed us some amazing places we would never have visited on our own and has made us braver to try and explore. Although this can be seen as an expensive luxury for a holiday I worked our trip out at less... More

Aberystwyth is a lovely place but has limited activities to do when visiting. Saw the reviews on Trip Advisor when planning a weekend visit to see my daughter at Uni. It was well worth doing, we were a party of 5 including a teenager and 2 students and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. Richard is very knowledgeable about the area... More

Richard our tour guide was so knowledgeable of the areas he took us and very accommodating to our needs and concerns. He even went ahead of areas he was unfamiliar with to find information for us to show us things most people wouldn't even go to find special views and easy to pass over landmarks. He is very passionate about... More

We had two great experiences with Richard. First, Richard picked us up at Manchester Airport and drove us 3 hours to Aberystwyth. Dead tired from our international flight it was fabulous to be met by Richard. We got an introduction to Wales and a comfortable relaxing transfer to our accommodation. We also hired Richard for a half day tour around... More

If you are coming from another European country and do not want to rent a car because of being afraid of driving on the "wrong side" of the road (as us), the Cambrian Safaris is the best alternative for you. We booked the whole day tour with Richard, started at 09.30 am and finalized around 5.30 pm. It was an... More

Our friendly and knowledgeable guide Richard gave us a great half-day out, combining a tour of various Hinterland locations with interesting information on local industrial and natural history, and how the two have influenced each other. The stop at the Hafod Hotel tearoom was good too!

My husband did extensive research on his paternal ancestor, Owen Reynolds, who immigrated from Llanidloes, Wales to America in 1842. One of my husband’s bucket list was to see where Owen lived in Wales & where he traveled. Richard was very responsive, via emails, as we planned our mid-Wales itinerary. So, we decided to hire Richard for 3 days to... More

Our day didn't look promising - it was the middle of summer, cold, wet and grey and the rain was set for the day. We weren't sure how much of a disaster this would be but didn't hold out much hope for a great day. However we didn't know Richard. He arrived at our hideaway cottage on time and from... More

Spent a wonderful day exploring the hidden gems of the Cambrian Mountains. Richard is a superb guide, good humoured and friendly with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the cultural and particularly the industrial history of the area. I would happily go again and can wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone looking for an entertaining and absorbing day out in the beautiful Welsh... More

Our family stayed at Ynyshir Hall for a week in August. We booked Richard for a full day on the Mountain Tour. It was perfect - we got to see the remarkable natural beauty of the area around Aberystwyth and take full advantage of Richard's local knowledge. He was informative, accommodating and taught us a lot about the wildlife, geology... More
