Lovely place for scenic autumn walks. Varied trees, good fungi, beautiful streams and waterfalls. Beautiful drive there from Aberystwyth

We chose the blue "Ladys' walk" which took us about 90 minutes, through woodland, fields, riverbank and through it all, the scenery is fabulous. The paths are easy to follow and there are many photographic opportunities along the way.
Despite the post markers for each route, paying £2 for the map was a good investment.

Lovely woodland walk around Hafod estate. There are several routes to choose from. We went on the blue one which took about an hour and half. Mostly easy but a little steep on our return, (we went anticlockwise) . Lovely river running alongside some of the route, small waterfalls, amazing views.

We spent a lovely afternoon here, a surprise around every corner. Lovely walk through lots of hand made sculptures, beautiful Lily pond. Gay and her husband were friendly with lots of information. It’s a bit tricky to find but well worth a visit. Take the turning at the school and follow the signs till you get to a fork in the road, take the left one over the cattle grid.

Spent a wonderful morning here, walking the trails, following the river, photoing the waterfalls etc, peace & quiet, far from the madding crowds in October. Be aware some of the trails are quite steep, in fact you might find your nose rubbing the floor in some places, still, it’s well worth it !

What a find this turned out to be. Did two of the three walks & then explored the churchyard adjacent to the car park. It was a pity the church was locked.
Particularly enjoyed the waterfall & the Chain Bridge & would love a week’s stay in Pwll Pendre.

Hafod Uchtryd is a very picturesque landscape near Aberystwyth. Free to enter, although there are maps available at the car park for a £2 contribution on an honesty basis.

There are a few different suggested routes, although you can formulate your own just as easily. Navigation is easy with the offered map.

Put simply: a very pleasant way to spend a few hours. Definitely worth visiting the Cavern (which is point No. 5 I think).

Why have we never been before, I ask myself. This is a glorious place from start to finish. We had good weather but I don’t think we would mind what the weather. My only proviso would be that some paths could be slippy when wet. The car park near the church is large and there are some picnic tables. One portaloo on site. All the signage is good but there is a map to buy for £2 at the information board and this is very helpful, giving history of the place as well. We did the Lady Walk and we had such a lovely time. The waterfall sparkled, the river ran on through dramatic scenery and we loved the echo valley up past the ruins of the house. The walk was relaxing and not at all arduous. We are going to do the Gentleman’s Walk next. Fine to bring dogs but I think the Gentleman‘s walk could be a bit hard going with steep narrow paths in places. This whole area is such a treasure. So glad we went.

After having a pretty average walk earlier in the holiday the Hafod Estate came to the rescue. its a bit of the beaten track so it was nice and quite when we arrived. We had a lovely two hour walk taking in the waterfalls, rivers and beautiful scenery and car parkign was free! The walks are really well marked and there is something for everyone.
