On a depressingly wet Saturday night in Bangor this was a beacon of light. My wife and I hadn't been to Bangor for years and were disappointed by the lack of decent pubs until we happened on this one.We cannot understand why it wasn't packed to the rafters as it has so much going for it: decent ,well priced food, friendly... I first visited here over a year ago by chance when visiting the Pier and I've been back many times since as this is a gem - a great little pub, good beer and plenty of choice, a cracking little menu good value and great portions. We now use it as our local and go over when ever we can... More

Great Lunch right next to the pier. value for money. Portion size is large you can ask for a small. We had giant Yorkshire pudding filled with beef chips peas carrots swimming in gravy. Mix grill and a rump steak. We will be back next time visit to daughter at university.

I visited last week after a lovely walk on the Pier. The speed of service was great. Good choice on the menu and the food was fantastic with large portions. A proper traditional pub with great value for money. Half the price of other pubs selling food and a better quality.

Met my friend here for lunch this afternoon; and thouroughly enjoyed the experience. A female staff member was very friendly, and I particularly liked the fact that she made an effort to speak Welsh, even if she was unsure about some Welsh words/sentences, she continued to make the effort to speak as much Welsh as she could. That in itself... More

Very good food portions, and good quality too. Friendly staff and a really good drinks selection too. Also worth noting is the weekly pub quiz.

We returned to the Bangor area for a short mid week stay and once again we made our base the Tap & Spile. We had such a great stay last time it was a no Brainer to stay there again. Dean & Liz made us welcome into there establishment and there was a selection of cask fine ales and Lagers.... More
