- llinwyn71 contributionsexcellent visitWe booked a 90 minute session today for x 4 kids. This was an Easter holiday treat. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed into the centre. Kits were provided and I enjoyed a latte in peace whilst the kids had their climbing lesson. The time went quickly and all x 4 kids thoroughly enjoyed this experience. So much so, we are planning our next visit. Communication was great by all employees, the place is clean, welcoming and has a sense of community. We will definitely be retuning for our next treat in due courseVisited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 April 2024

- lukecollyerLondon, United Kingdom45 contributionsAmazing friendly atmosphereSuch friendly place. Immediately made to feel welcome. On holiday with wife and 3yo. Didn’t bring any climb kit. Popped by Beacon - who had everything. Huge comp on too. Everyone there friendly annd happy. Accommodated us and remained friendly throughout. We had a chat later and all agreed that the climbing community remains one of the most inclusive and positive. Thank you so much guys for providing that positivity for our monster daughterVisited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 June 2024
- Laurent G14 contributionsA hidden gem with fantastic team. What an absolute great place. The kids went there for a climbing session on crazy climb on Saturday. They had the bestest of time. The instructor was fantastic, very knowledgeable, professional, calm and reassuring and helped our kids so much. The staff was fantastic and the facilities too. And you can get a great coffee. A hidden gem. Kids are wanting to join the climbing club now.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 June 2024
- Magnus36Rochester, United Kingdom132 contributionsSuper wet day alternative!Great range of climbs. Friendly staff. Welcomed by other climbers. Worth coming for the cafe food and drink alone. Brought a group of 4 year 9 (14 yr old) girls who took to the activity far better than I imagined they would. A great day’s activity!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 July 2024
- Liz CLiverpool, United Kingdom7 contributionsVery kid friendlyExcellent climbing experience for my 8 year old and 7 year old. Really accommodating for my autistic child, so patient, welcoming and kid friendly. Would 100% recommend. Special shout out to the instructor Nick, thank you for making the experience so awesome!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 July 2024
- Adam W1 contributionThank you for supporting me!I came here on holiday shortly after becoming a practicing Muslim. When I asked the staff where would be most convenient for me to pray, they were extremely accommodating and opened up an unbooked conference room especially for me to use. Apparently this was the first time they'd had someone ask to pray there which makes this hospitality all the more appreciated. Particularly in the current environment of extreme Islamophobia, having members of staff being so supportive towards allowing Muslims to practice their religion commands so much respect. Mashallah, thank you so much!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 August 2024
- Lydia S3 contributionsBrilliant place - highly recommendWhat a fab place! Friendly, helpful and fun staff - made my 5 year old twins feel super comfortable and they had so much fun we had to come back again the following day for more. Highly recommend this place. Coffee is also great which is also an added bonus!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 August 2024
- Tom RowlandsRas Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates1,375 contributionsPretty good 👍First time going here, and I thought it was pretty good. Bouldering has plenty of routes of mixed difficulty, and there are a few climbs on auto belay. When I went, most of the main room was set up from a competition the day before, so I had fewer top ropes, but still a very good amount to keep you occupied all day.Visited October 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 October 2024

My friend booked us both an hour’s climb experience and we had the highly entertaining expertise of Pete Swift and Jess Day.
It was the most fun I’d had in a long time. They were both brilliant.
The welcome was warm and everyone made us feel at home, including another awesome dude called Pete. After wanting to start climbing properly for what’s, I can’t wait to come back - got the bug, now. 🧗♀️
We arrived and enjoyed a pre-climb flat white (with Oat milk no less) ...and ended the afternoon with a yummy, baked spud and 🌱 vegan bean chilli from the cafe.
The centre is huge with so many walls to try. We really enjoyed the bouldering area too.
Cheers guys, for everything! ♥️

My brother and I have taken our four kids (aged between 5-8) to the Beacon Climbing Centre several times during the last 6 weeks. All kids started with Crazy Climb. Two of them have since moved on to weekly classes.
I am incredibly impressed with the professionalism and support of every member of staff that I have spoken with so far. Jess was very supportive of one child in particular, who was too scared to climb, and helped to build up their confidence to do so (he was later heard shouting her name at the top of the climbing wall!). She was also awesome with our Downes Syndrome boy, who absolutely loves the Crazy Climb.
Sam was excellent at teaching the two girls to use the bigger wall. His teaching instructions were fun and memorable. He was brilliant at encouraging the two girls and supporting their learning; he knew exactly where they were in their development and what they needed to do next to progress further.
Joe and Fergus ran the kids' first Crazy Climb session and were definitely instrumental in us returning back to the centre.

Would thoroughly recommend a visit here, my kids have always loved the whole experience of crazy climb, so we decided to do the parents belaying course so they could further their climbing experience. We were in a group of four being instructed by Kim Sam and Pete the children enjoyed climbing all the assents available to them. Whilst we learnt how to keep them safe whilst climbing in the correct way. Couldn’t fault our tutors very professional, attentive at all times, so helpful and patient I have to say their knowledge and feedback made the 2 sessions of 2 hours fly by. Good value for money and a fun filled evening of learning to belay and boulder - thanks again Kim Sam & Pete you were fantastic!!

I wanted the children to try something new and a friend had taken their child here. My 8 and 9 year old were very nervous but the instructors soon put them at ease. They go through a safety check and harness them up and away they go. An hour of trying out different climbs, with encouragement from the instructors, and I have two sweaty kids on my hands. They turned from two nervous kids to kids asking if they could come again next week. I highly recommend bringing your children here.

We did a family session with our two girls (8 & 13). The tuition and guidance from Jess was first class. Everyone felt fully briefed and safe and the kids were encouraged to do more challenging routes whilst also positively encouraging their efforts. A fantastic holiday experience.

My daughter celebrated her 10th birthday with her friends at Crazy Climb. We had exclusive use of Crazy Climb with 14 girls. The girls were instructed by two young men, but I felt safe leaving them in their care (having previous experience of attending another party there recently).
I also booked the party room and paid per head for the birthday food, which was great. All we had to bring were the party bags, birthday cake and balloons. We also decorated the room with birthday banners and with helium balloons so the room, although small, was plenty big enough for 14 children, and looked nice. There was an aux cable and speakers so that we could play the party music from my phone using songs that we had downloaded from Spotify. I'm still not sure if the room had wifi or not as I didn't try to play songs that we hadn't downloaded beforehand. A great service from all the young staff. My only suggestion is that it would have been nice to have Welsh speaking instructors for local Welsh speaking children. A great venue for a party celebration. Diolch yn fawr.

Been here fairly regularly and thought it was about time I wrote a review.
I really like this climbing centre. It caters for all.
Good kids climbing, good route setting and plenty for more advanced climbers.
The training set up is brilliant especially since the arrival of the kilter board.
Also good to see a nice cafe.
Only reason it’s not 5/5 is that sometimes it can be way too busy, this tends to be the case on bad weather days. Obviously good in one way as it’s popular for a reason but it can be too much.

Expensive. Good for climbing but avoid weekends. Sadly the popularity of crazy climb brings families who cant control their kids into the climbing room. Before you know it the kids are in the bouldering area and running under you. This is also true for the instructors who take the kids - seem to have little to zero control of kids running around. Outside of kids the it’s pretty solid place, seem to ochange routes regularly. Only place that i know thqt doesn’t discount for local NHS workers or mountain rescue folk.§

Took our first time climbers aged 11, 10 and 6 to try the crazy climb the instructor's were great didn't catch their names but they were fantastic with the children which put me at ease as I could tell they were in safe hands. They helped them when they needed help and gave them advice and encouragement. It was lovely to see my children's confidence growing throughout eventually getting to the top. Staff were friendly and it was a lovely atmosphere. My children really enjoyed and want to come back. We're from South Wales but we definitely want to come back to caernarfon again and make a return visit to the beacon. Highly recommended.

A great time was had by CJ - it was her first time at Crazy Climb and she was raring to go and I afraid to try and keep trying to get further up each challenge she attempted. It was clear she loved it much the same as the other kids and adults who were trying it out. She said she would definitely go again and I would highly recommend it.

Hi Jenny, I would recommend CrazyClimb for your grandchildren. They will get to try over 15 different wacky climbing challenges and no training is required so they will get a full hour of climbing fun. Prices are £13 per person at off-peak times and £18 per person at peak times. Email or phone the centre if you need any further information. You can also check current availability and book on the website.

I note there is a 'chic', only female session on Mondays. Can I suggest, in the interests of gender equality hat you have a Bloke's session too. While we are at it since you are operating in a strong Welsh speaking area why not a Welsh language only session too. The point is pandering to demographics you exclude other groups which is discrimination. What is your point in having a female only session?
Written 23 January 2019
Hello Keith,
National studies have shown, and continue to show, that men play more sport than women. This fact is also backed up by analysis of our own participation data at Beacon Climbing Centre.
We want to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy climbing regardless of gender, age or ability and we feel that investing in women’s participation can play an important role in developing a cycle of positive engagement with physical activity.
To answer your question: An awareness of the motives and barriers for women’s participation has been the starting point for our policies to increase female participation. Our female only sessions aim to provide a comfortable, encouraging and sociable atmosphere that contributes to a positive spiral of higher participation and leads to healthier and happier individuals.
Group participation sessions, whether gender or language based are often peer driven (as has been the case with our female only sessions) and we absolutely welcome your contribution, should you decide to organise specific gender or language based sessions.
Regarding your accusation of discrimination on our part, please note that providing a special club or arrangement for a particular group of people or for a particular reason doesn't discriminate against others, unless they are disadvantaged as a result.
Best regards
The Beacon team

How suitable is beacon for adults. Thinking of going for a friend's birthday, would be 4-8 of us all ages around 30.
Written 11 September 2018
Hi Mike, Beacon would be an awesome experience for a group of adults. It's a really engaging and sociable activity tailored to the abilities of each individual within the group, making it perfect as a group experieince. I would recommend contacting us and booking a Group Taster. This would be a private introductory session at £95/group for 4-7 people or £13/peron for 8+ people. We hope to see you here soon!
