A wonderfully peaceful walk through soaring pine trees, mossy glens, and brooks that do something indescribable as anything other than "babbling." It's definitely not an easy ascent (if you're a Master's student who does a lot of sitting the rest of the year) but it's...More

Arrived by rail to Betws-y-Coed and went to the information center to ask about hiking. They are very helpful. We walked up (and it is rather steep) and arrived at the lake, with a 360 degree view, including Snowdon. Very pretty hike and the lake...More

Parked up behind the church in Betws y coed and walked up a steep track and turned off at the top to walk through the woods to the viewing point overlooking Llyn Elsi, and the view is stunning. Walked the circumference of the lake with...More

Walking up the steepish hill behind St Mary's church is well worth the effort. On getting to Llyn Elsi the views are staggering. This has to be one of the the most picturesque lakes in Snowdonia with its many inlets and islands, the surrounding flora...More

Top tip - park for free above the church. Lovely walk up to and around the lake. First mile is all up hill and pretty steep. Best off wearing walking shoes or decent trainers. Once up top it is a nice walk around the lake....More

Lovely walk up to the monument by the lake (the path was closed beyond that for a fallen tree). It took us just over an hour there and back including photos at the top and we’re certainly not super fit (mid 50s + 17yo +...More

You can reach the Llyn Elsi reservoir by taking the path just behind the church in Betws-y- coed. The path up is very steep and we struggled a bit to get up during the recent heatwave but it was worth it once we got to...More

It's almost a difficult walk from betws y coed. At points it gets very steep but once that's over it's a beautiful walk. It's well worth it for the spectacular views over lake Elsi. The walk around the lake has plenty of viewing points perfect...More

Hi. It is quite busy in the town so it depends very much on your dog and how well it behaves with lots of people around. On the local walks it should be no issue, as it is walking countryside.
