We book James for our first rock climbing experience; he was extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot. He worked around the weather that was not on our side in the morning but with James’s expertise he found the perfect location for the afternoon climb.

This is the third time I've been out with James. He's a great guy, really knows his stuff, and is extremely encouraging. Each time I've learned more from him.

I really needed an outdoor "reset" and, after travelling extensively for the previous 2+ weeks in UK/Europe, just needed to find a way to climb. James of Gibbon Adventures, was able to tailor the climbing to my needs and ability as well as teach me some new skills. He also knew the best places to avoid adverse weather. I felt totally safe at all times and had lots of fun. Did not think I would be "Trad" climbing - I had never done this before. Great views- cascading waterfalls, pink heather in flower, and we were all away from the throngs of hikers - it was peaceful and serene.

We had a great half day out with James, on Lion Rock. He was really good with our kids (8 and 6) and ensured they had a good amount of climb time with just a 5 minute drive to the rock and then a 5 minute walk up. He was also flexible with timings to account for the weather. Friendly, relaxed and professional.

James is a fatalistic teacher who can pick routes and crags ideal for the day and person and people. James picked a crag and climb ideal for both me and my girlfriend and we both have very different skill sets yet we both came away from the experience have gained so much knowledge and experience. A fun and personable teacher who really takes the time to teach and always finds ways to teach you something new or different. I can not fault the day, epic day out and great memories.

My son and I had a great day out on Idwal slabs and Cneifion Arete. James is a great instructor.He made us feel safe and inspired confidence.James also showed us equipment placement and how to belay. If you fancy a great day out in the mountains I thoroughly recommend James

With James’ help me and a friend got to climb our first sea cliffs, which was an overwhelming experience in its own. After an introductory conversation and one route (Lighthouse Arête) he was able to judge my climbing abilities and my limits and later pushed me slightly out of my comfort zone while making sure I was safe. Great teacher if you want to grow as a climber and good fun if you just want to climb - or both.

Thank you so much James for the dedication and attention to detail you have put through the 3 days I trained with you. I have been extremely impressed not just at the level of skill and experience that you have but also at your natural talent to teach and motivate. A proper leader that I would recommend anyone wishing to learn or improve their climbing skills no matter what level you are at! See you again soon!
