Great course, very knowledgeable and friendly instructor. Meeting place and walls very easy to find, with great communication and support also after the course.

Stu is a fantastic teacher, very down to earth and explains things in a really easy to understand manner. He taught me how to lead trad and now I’m doing my CWI qualification with him. Always a pleasure rocking up at base camp at 8am. See you again soon

I have now been on two courses (Intro to outdoor climbing, Learn to lead) with Mountain Independence, with Stu as my guide and I've had a great experience both times. Stu is a fountain of knowledge, experience and the patience of a saint. He showed my friend and I everything we needed to know to get us climbing outside inspiring confidence all the way. I also greatly appreciated him accommodating my request for less input when completing my first lead ascent, but expertly providing feedback when it was most needed. 10/10 great course, great guy!

Back again to learn more climbing with Stu, but this time it was the learn to lead course. It was an excellent experience and I genuinely feel ready to take on more trad climbs without the guidance of an instructor.
Stu picked out the perfect locations for our skill/confidence levels, and his calm collected nature made for an excellent learning environment that I got a hell of a lot from.
Couldn’t recommend enough!

We went on a learn to trad climb course with mountain independence. Really enjoyed the course and learnt so much. Stu was a really patient instructor with tons of experience and knowledge. Highly recommended!

Stu ran an excellent course and I learned a ton, now feeling confident to head out on my own and start leading some routes around North Wales. Stu knows the area incredibly well and we managed to get loads of climbing in, heading to the right spots to stay safe and dry while the rest of Eryri got drenched. Attentive to the abilities of all course members and offered loads of practical advice that would take a long time to pick up on your own - highly recommended.

Great week spent learning to multi-pitch climb with Stu. Excellent instructor who knows all the best routes to hide from the weather. Learnt lots and would love to climb with Stu again. 🤙🏻

I did Learn to Lead Sports climb through Mountain Independence, but at the location of the Queer Climbing Festival. An incredible weekend and such a good vibe. I am autistic and registered blind, so it is fantastic to be able to access courses and fully participate. I was able to genuinely be happy with 'getting however far I do' but fantastic to have done my first lead climb. Stu and the other participant - we all worked so well together, plus banter and chat, but serious when needed.
It was fun, comfortable and great climbing opportunities.
