A pleasant surprise on our visit today. Very rainy so took a trip here as its mostly indoors. It was very quiet, and in the main house they have actors all dressed up and in character talking to you and telling you about 'their' roles...More

Great visit to a lovely old house. The actors brought the place to life with their explanations of the past in the civil war and the lives of those who lived and worked there. Definitely recommend a visit to this historical experience!

This is an exemplar for bringing the Civil War to life. Informative throughout. The Manor House tour involves talks by characters in period costume. The kitchen areas are particularly well done and you learn a lot about the eating habits of the time. Could it...More

Had a lovely few hours here yesterday. Would have stayed longer and wandered round the gardens as well, but it was SO cold! You CANNOT break the guides from character, don’t even try. The scrivener and agent were particularly skilled, knowledgeable and funny. We were...More

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Costumed docents we’re knowledgeable, friendly and added a little humor to lighten the atmosphere. The manor house was impressive and the docents explained how living was during those times and told great stories. A must, if you like history

A thoroughly entertaining and informative experience. The servants ( speaking in old English and dressed in period costume) were courteous and interesting, there knowledge of the period (1645) was good as you would expect. I would recommend this place to everyone. At a cost of...More
