About
This superbly restored gentry manor house is no ordinary heritage attraction. History here is tangible. The costumed servants of the house are living and working in 1645 and allow you to share and engage in their world. Fires crackle, candles flicker and the sounds and smells of domestic life make your visit a memorable experience of the past. It takes a moment to attune your ear to the unfamiliar speech within the Manor itself, but within seconds of your warm welcome you become immersed in the time of the Civil Wars and the cares and concerns of ordinary people living in extraordinary times.

    A visit back in time
Had a great time visiting the manor with my nephew and niece (8 & 5). I hadn’t been there since childhood and it was great to take them. The tour was the right length for them and the staff in costume were knowledgeable, friendly and interactive. Great visit during the school holidays.

    Entertaining as well as educational
Good fun. Interesting introduction to this period of history by actors who responded well to 21st century questions. Nice surroundings, I wish I’d had more time to explore. Cafe has nice views too. Good place for a light meal.

    Loved Our Visit Here
What a fun and interesting journey back in time. The guides were charming, informative, and stayed in character all the time they were with us. We learned a lot about the life in the house and the family that inhabited it, as well as some English and Welsh history more broadly. Well worth the visit.

Lack of ice behind the bar of the function room
My wife and I, together with friends attended a Tom Jones tribute night. The tickets included a meal of chips, peas and chicken breasts, to be fair were good and they didn't scrimp on the chicken. "Tom" and the band were great, keeping us fully entertained. We would definitely see them again if they come back. The only thing that let the night down was the lack of ice behind the bar! The young ladies worked hard behind the bar, but, they were struggling to keep making excuses for the lack of ice. One occasion I waited at the bar for 10-15 minutes for one member of the team to find the manager to get a small bag of ice. Rediculess situation, please get this silly system sorted.

    Extremely interesting and informative
Took my 9 year old grand daughter there yesterday. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Very interesting tour of the manor and trip back in time. My grand daughter particularly enjoyed being able to turn the large spit in the kitchen fireplace and learning how the cooking was done. Nice little gift shop also and pretty gardens. Well worth a visit and not too expensive.

    Sunday lunch
Lovely Sunday lunch, visited recently with family. Huge portions of food, well presented with a nice selection. Bright conservative with a pleasant view into the grounds. We had a fantastic waiter Max who was friendly and answered all of our questions and promptly responded to our requests. As a suggestion a cheese board would be a welcomed addition to the menu as it was all sweet based. Can recommend and hope to return.

    Brilliant place to visit
This is a brilliant place! The museum gives a great interpretation and Co text for when you enter the building and meet the excellent “staff” who give a great contextual interior the day. All based upon evidence and context. Clearly from some of the other tours that are occasionally offered - staff are dedicated, passionate and love the house dearly. Can’t recommend this place enough for a fascinating day out.

    Very enjoyable and informative.
We were planning on going somewhere for a picnic for my birthday, but unsurprisingly the February weather was awful. Due to this we were trying to think of somewhere to visit indoors and my partner suggested visiting the house as they’d been to a works conference there earlier in the week. The last time myself and another member of our group had visited was over 30 years ago whilst in school. My only real memory was of sitting in the kitchen making a candle, which I think I still have somewhere. The tour guides we had were both excellent and very knowledgeable. We learnt quite a few facts and I even got to try my hand at dancing (although I don’t think I’ll be winning any awards 😂). After the tour we went into the restaurant for Sunday lunch, which was plentiful and tasty. We all enjoy our food and there was so much even we left some! We had a very enjoyable few hours here and I’m going to book one of the paranormal evenings they hold here, as another friend has recommended it.

A Great Day Out And Sunday Lunch
Llancaiach Fawr is a hidden gem. It is a truly fantastic day out. The setting is great and the buildings and grounds well cared for. The enactors are superb, they stay in character and deliver so much interesting information about how people lived in the tumultuous times in 1645. They are the best I have ever seen. We also had Sunday lunch in the conservatory restaurant - a really great meal. A most enjoyable and satisfying day

    Good day out
Went with a group, had an excellent tour with guides in every room explaining the history of the manor and how the staff lived and worked. We had afternoon tea which was excellent and would recommend. All in all the tour and included tea were excellent value for money. The staff were very good and our group were full of praise for the manor.

I visited Llancaiach Fawr with 2 coach loads of 9-11 year olds. We had a great day. The 4 actors we encountered were brilliant - knowledgable and engaging. The activities were well pitched and held the children’s interest.

I attended Ghost Tours at Llancaiach Fawr Manor. evening session on Saturday night. was very excited about going, wasnt expecting to see anything, but hoped. The house where the tour is held is beautiful and set for a ghost tour. But what I felt really let it down were the people who took us on the tour. A girl and a man. It was flat and the stories of the ghosts were flat. there was no excitment in their voices or actions. I didnt want to be made jumped or anything, but it would have been so much better with a bit of drama. I went on a Jack the Ripper tour years ago and the man wore costume and was dramatic. There was none of this. It was flat and mid way through people were yawning. This could be amazing with the correct people giving it a bit of drama, perhaps dressed in appropriate costumes..... I felt very disappointed and the way it finsihed, the girl said "I never know how to finish the tour!". What's wrong with..... Our tour is finished and have a safe trip home..... if any of our ghosts follow, please bring them home...... Make it a bit scary.....

This was surprisingly interesting and very well done. Went with my twelve year old and we enjoyed every minute. Learnt a lot about the period and the area. The ‘servants’ are not reading from a script but are clearly interested in everything that went on in that time and tell amazing stories. The Barber Surgeon was in residence and what a character.
