Description:

This superbly restored gentry manor house is no ordinary heritage...

This superbly restored gentry manor house is no ordinary heritage attraction. History here is tangible. The costumed servants of the house are living and working in 1645 and allow you to share and engage in their world. Fires crackle, candles flicker and the sounds and smells of domestic life make your visit a memorable experience of the past. It takes a moment to attune your ear to the unfamiliar speech within the Manor itself, but within seconds of your warm welcome you become immersed in the time of the Civil Wars and the cares and concerns of ordinary people living in extraordinary times.

If you love history then this is the place to visit! The Manor House itself and the gardens are beautiful. The tour guides are brilliant, dressed in the clothing from the 1600's and even speak as if they live in that period. How they keep that up amazes me! I went to visit with my mother and we decided to... More

Although Llancaiach Fawr was quite an interesting place to visit it does seem a bit light on actual things to do for the £23 it cost two adults and a child to enter. The staff in character is entertaining for the children and they are clearly good at what they do, but, The house can be seen in about 15... More

Very interesting place to visit for both adults and children. It has beautiful gardens and a gift shop and coffee shop. Plenty of space for children to learn and plenty of grounds to run around . Well worth a visit.

LLancaiach fawr is an imposing Tudor Manor house, renovated to reflect it's appearance during the mid 1600's. This is done very well, with dozens of authentically hand-made items within each room, from furniture and tools to popular games and decor of the time - throughout the many rooms are portraits and tapestries, writing equipment and maps, spice cabinets, butter churns... I booked a ghost tour on Friday 10th February having bought reduced price admission on Groupon. We had two guides with torches, one leading the way and one bringing up the rear. We were taken into rooms where the guides would put their torches face down to further reduce light and recount stories of their own, and other visitors, experiences.... More

Visited on a wet Sunday in January. Absolutely fantastic throwback in time, the guides are all in period dress, acting different roles in the Pritchard household, set in the time of the English Civil War. Even if this period doesn't particularly interest you, you'll still enjoy your visit - we learned where lot's of everyday expressions came from, and were... More

An excellent visit enjoyed by the whole group. The idea of staff being in character and speaking in the language of the time was effective and made the visit so enjoyable and informative. I am so glad the Council invested in renovating the Manor from the 1600's - money well spent. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Cafe / restaurant... More
