Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Only visited the city hall outside. But it’s a beautifully architecturally and the grounds and statues are worth the time to see.

Had our very small wedding here 24th July. We were treated brilliantly by every member of staff that we encountered. It is a beautiful building and don't be put off using the St David's room if you are a small party it felt very intimate and the registrar made the service very personal. The photos both inside and outside were amazing. We would highly recommend this venue.

Myself and a friend attempted to visits cardiff city hall today (15/12/14). As soon as we entered the building, a rather snooty receptionist shouted out from her large desk "can I help you". We replied nicely that we were interested in just taking a look around the beautiful building and so would it be okay if we did that? Her reply - "no". So we said - sorry are you busy do you have something going on? Her reply- we always have something going on. Us - sorry, if it was any other day would it be okay, maybe next Monday? Her reply - No. At this point we felt embarrassed and just left.

Cardiff City Hall stands amongst some of the finest civic buildings in the world. Built during the Edwardian era, City Hall is notable for its splendid clock tower, which can be seen in many parts of the city. Inside the City Hall, there are statues of many prominent Welsh people, including Owain Glyndwr, and Henry VII of England (the first Tudor King, father to Henry VIII - the Tudor's were originally Norman-Welsh). City Hall was one of the potential sites for the new Welsh Assembly, however the building was viewed as too historic and traditional.
The gardens in front of and behind City Hall are very popular with visitors and city dwellers as an oasis from the city bustle. Events such as the Big Weekend in August take place outside the City Hall.
Be sure to visit!

Went to a wedding here and as we arrived we pressed the buzzer to park our car as we was wedding guests she answered and said no parking here, after all the money the couple spent on getting married at the city hall, their guests wasn't even aloud to park there and had to pay for parking instead, disgraceful... Jobsworth!

Even though i am from Cardiff I took a walk around a few days ago and forgot how beautiful our city is?.
We have some beautiful detailed buildings which i think are under rated! The museum is one, it has a lovely entrance and the foyer is outstanding. If you do visit Cardiff you must visit City hall its a lovely place to get married with a choice of rooms for different budgets!.
I also took some time to walk down to the cenotaph where there was some beautiful wreths from remembrance day which was a very humbling experience.
I strongly recommend Cardiff as its definitely changed from the 1980's ugly buildings,
Shopping is great with the new St Davids 2 with shops like John Lewis, Jack Jones, vans and Hugo boss to name a few! food is great and there's something for everyone. I am very excited on the arrival of the new Burger and Lobster restaurant opening soon, a review will be put on for that one!!!!.

I have just returned from my cousin's wedding in Cardiff. The reception was held in the marble hall on the first floor of City Hall. From the moment the guests arrived we were all looked after very well. We had a champagne reception in the entrance hall which is a fabulous room in its own right. The staff were attentive and friendly in topping up glasses and also provided delicious welsh scones to keep us going until dinner. The Marble Hall was beautifully laid out for the wedding reception, with fabric covered chairs and ribbons, top quality tableware and elegant flower arrangements. All of this just added to the grandeur of the venue. With its artwork, marble pillars and statues, the place is impressive on its own. The 5 course wedding breakfast we were treated to was exactly that. Every course perfectly cooked and of a high quality, which isn't easy when catering for over 100 people. I have no doubt all this wasnt cheap, but it was certainly money well spent in my opinion.

Was having a lunch time walk and took the time to look around the City Hall.
The exterior is spectacular with a lot of intricate design.
Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.
Would recommend to those with an eye for historical architecture.

The early 20th Century building is impressive with a council chamber ideal for the wedding ceremony. The Registra made every one most welcome.
