In our fun, free and interactive galleries, discover how Cardiff was transformed from the small market town of the 1300s, to one of the world's biggest ports in the 1900s, to the cool, cosmopolitan capital we know today. The museum, in the beautiful and historic Old Library building, is rich in stories, objects, photographs and film telling the history of Cardiff through the eyes of those who created the city – its people.

Lovely place

Right in the city centre, interesting museum of Cardiff life. A great installation with documentaries about businesses in Cardiff. Worth a visit!

I visited here last year and it was a complete waste of time. I was a bit stunned to how little was on the Ground Floor so I visited the First Floor to find it was just as bad! It was pretty terrible! I recommend for you to avoid wasting time going here

With free entry this exhibition is worth a half hour of the visitor's time. It gives an overview of the City's history with artefacts and short films.

Really enjoyed this exhibition. In the middle of the city, attached to Tourist info, so easy to find. Free and not too big, but enough to take about 1-2 hours. The short interview dvd featuring local people just talking about local occupations, (most sadly no more) was riviting and there were many imaginative displays, most interactive. Not to be missed

Go see this museum which has some very innovative interractives - lots of fun for children ranging from touchey feeley animals to an automated dolls house. Lots of great info both in terms of display boards and oral history

Very informative, especially for Cardiffians. The DVDs/Movie Presentations are of particular interest, hearing from local people and obtaining more information on places/stores etc that have known for years. Would still be very interesting to visitors to get a taste of local history of Cardiff.
