    An area on the up
About 30 mins walk from the city centre. There is a train station. Lots of tit big chains have set up they’re- Zizzis, weatherspoons. So it gets busy at night with dinners. Think Liverpool docks 15 years ago- development happening fast. We a good walk along the path which took us past the Welsh parliament building. Defo an area on that up and I would imagine lovely for a meal on a summer night.

A Place to Eat and Meet
Mermaid Quay is located in Cardiff Bay. It has a large number of places to eat and drink including wagamama, brasseries and more. There are some lovely views of the bay from the waterfront. Worth checking out on your visit to the city.

    Marvellous Mermaid Quay
A beautiful waterfront setting in Cardiff Bay. It consists of eateries, shops etc that caters for all food & drink needs and it is a lovely place to spend in the summer and there is always a large hustle bustle of locals and tourists. There is a car park just behind it near the wetherspoons and there is ample parking

Not as vibrant as it used to be. Review of Mermaid Quay Pending review Was quiet on Thursday morning as we expected. We could not make out whether it was the time of the day or the times we all were in. A few places were shut and the place was not as vibrant as we had seen in the pre-Covid days.

More than just shops and restaurants we really enjoyed walking around exploring
We spent two nights in Cardiff Bay the 19th and 20th October during this time we visited the Quay a number of times. This waterfront Quay was part of the massive investment for the Dock and Bay regeneration programme and it opened in 1999. It is has numerous bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. However there are other interesting aspects to be seen and explored. Close by the "Spoons" pub, the Mount Stuart, which we visited more than once, there is the small Landsea Square and it's Water Feature. In front of the pub on the waterfront there is the Landsea Gardens and the Rugby Players Statue From the Quay there are views across the Plass to three very different styles of buildings, all of national importance, Welsh Millennium Centre, The Senedd, Parliament and the historic Pierhead Building. We walked across the wooden footbridge , than spans Roald Dahl Plass, to the Quay from near Pierhead Building. From the footbridge we overlooked The Plass and its pillars and seventy foot tall water tower. There were pieces of industrial machinery dotted around the place, a reminded of the area's history and former use. We had dinner on the Quay both nights, first night in Demiro's and the next night in Duchess of Delhi (both reviewed separately). Kiosks and their jetties lined up along the waterfront, from here it was possible to take boat trips around the bay and into the City. Most of the places mentioned in the review are reviewed separately.

As a Frist time visitor there isn't much clear information on where to park especially as a blue badge holder. Instead of electric charging points they should be disabled parking

We visited tonight 3 ladies. Alex the manager met us on arrival. They were very busy. But he showed us to our seats and explained how the new norm works.

Natalie was our waitress and I must say although extremely busy they were amazing. Service excellent. And Alex found time to check on us.

We had 3 course and all amazing. Food very good.

Thanks both. See you soon
