I was honestly shocked at how much we saw with Paul. The tour was just with me and my wife (I didn't realize it'd be only the two of us), but Paul gave us probably the best walking tour I'll ever take. We only had one day in Cardiff, but we showed us, like, everything. In the main area of the old city, he took us around Cardiff Castle's outside, through a lovely part next to the castle, though an old shopping arcade, through a newer mall, down the main streets, and past some old buildings. Then he surprised us by taking us into Cardiff museum, which is free, where we saw honest-to-god dinosaur skeletons, and also a ton of impressionist masters' paintings and sculptures. Who knew Cardiff has the biggest impressionist collection in Europe outside of Paris! Then we went a long walk away to the port area (the boats weren't running due to heavy rain the night before, but you could also do this portion on a bus if you're not young and up for miles of walking like we were), where we went into another free museum to watch a nice video about Cardiff's history. Then Paul shocked us again by walking us right into the Welsh Parliament building, where we spent five minutes watching the actual Welsh Parliament debate Brexit!
With this tour, you can get the whole city in one day, and Paul is a perfect tour guide. Take this tour!!

with a group of older visitors Paul paced the walk brilliantly. his knowledge and passion for the city is obvious. we got to see some of the otherwise easily missed nooks and crannies of the city, as well as the bigger sites like the castle and market. would definitely recommend

I am a French teenage girl who visited Cardiff for the first time with my father and little sister. Since we were staying for a short time, we didn't want to miss the most important features in the Welsh capital and so, during my planning of the trip, I came upon "Cardiff on foot"...
At first, I was afraid that my father would not understand anything since he doesn't speak English very well. But I took the risk and on morning 26 May, we went to the meeting point.
We met guide Paul and realized that we were the only ones to visit that day. Paul was very understanding and our visit began.
I do not regret my choice because we discovered some parts of Cardiff that we couldn't imagine or wouldn't have found by ourselves. Without that guided tour, we wouldn't have thought of going into City Hall to see its fantastic statues of prominent figures of Welsh history, for example.
I do think that the most interesting thing about the Cardiff on Foot visit is the lot of little stories told by Paul : he is obviously passionate about his home city and wants us to share his interest !
Our walk lasted 2h30 but we soon lost track of the time spent. It was a warm and sunny day which made our visit even more enjoyable.
Finally, my father understood the visit thanks to our super guide who never infantilized us. He was very generous, kind and smart.
I obviously recommend Cardiff on Foot which makes people learn to look at Cardiff in a new way. Our experience proved that it is, on top of that, available to everyone !
You won't regret your choice, just as I didn't !

I would have to say that this is one of the best tours that I have been on. Our guide was Paul and he was superb. We had a small group but he kept everyone included and engaged. I learnt heaps on the tour and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've been to Cardiff several times however decided on this trip to do a walking tour to help me better understand the city. The timing of the tour is great with an 11am start and takes two hours. Our guide Paul was friendly and made us feel really welcome. The tour covered the history of the city and took us from the castle and around the main area of the CBD. For me it was the perfect mix of history and information on the modern city.
Paul is clearly passionate about his subject and the two hours flew by. The information was presented in a logical and interesting format that would suit any age group. In addition the atmosphere was really informal and friendly. The path we walked was not arduous or particularly difficult so if you have anyone with mobility requirements I don't think you'd have any issues.
This tour is great for anyone who is interested in history and understanding what has contributed to making Cardiff the city it is today. In addition, I found a lot of great cafes and shops I hadn't come across before, despite previous visits to Cardiff. Paul's final rendition of the Welsh national anthem, in Welsh, was a beautiful finish to a wonderful tour.

I loved every second of it! I was the only who had booked the tour that day so Nigel, the tour gude, and I talked during the whole thing. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, he showed me all the beautiful and historical places in the centre of Cardiff, answering all my questions! It was one of the highlights of my trip to the UK! I'll be sure to return to Cardiff and book another tour with him! Loved it!

On our recent trip (a group of 45 Year-10 students) we had 3 guides, one in Bristol, two in Bath and one Cardiff. Paul, See Wales cardiff guide, was hands down the best. He kept the group's attention until the last minutes of the tour. Paul was carrying this portable microphone speaker making himself audible throughout the tour. He even played Welch music through it adding to the fun. He taught kids Welch, spoke slowly and clearly making it easy to understand even those more complicated bits of history. We do lots of school trips, next time I am Cardiff, I am going to ask for Paul again. I asked studens which guided tour they enjoyed the most, they all said Cardiff. Highly recommended.

Cardiff is an old city which is undergoing serious development while holding its old architecture. The Cardiff castle is beautiful and if you go in it will show all the twists and eccentricities of its owners. The Bude park is serene. The arcades are beautiful and if you are shopping freak chances are you can be lost in it all day. From the Bude park you can take a boat ride to Cardiff Bay for 4 quid and the Bay has all the nice restaurants. You can also take walking tours start from opposite castle and from Cardiff Bay. The Cardiff museum is nice to visit especially for kids if they like dinosours. Good for a day.

We had our tour with Paul who was an excellent guide and the tour was the highlight of our stay in Cardiff. Not only did we find out a lot about the history of Wales, but Paul had plenty of good stories to tell which made the tour very enjoyable. Our group was very small, and despite people being from very different age groups with different needs and interests, Paul managed to pay attention to everyone. He also gave us plenty of tips for the rest of our stay in Cardiff - from secret choir rehearsals that we went to listen, to pubs with live music and wonderful restaurants to have dinner. There are so many good stories in Cardiff that are impossible to know without having a guided tour and good places to visit that are not listed in TripAdvisor and hard to find without asking a local person. Therefore I would really recommend this tour.

I am planning to book the walking tour of Cardiff with my dad and little sister whose English is rudimentary. Will they still be able to enjoy it ? We are French.

Hello Clara. Thank you for your enquiry. Our walking tours are conducted in English and whilst there is much to talk about on the tour many of the different places in the city do speak for themselves if you know what I mean. You'll also not discover many of the places that are featured on the tour if you were to explore on you own.
Kind regards
