Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The picture shown IS NOT the transporter bridge, entirely different to the picture.
When I visited the transporter bridge it was because of its age and particular design. I rode on it, stepped off the other side, and came back on it again. It's good fun and a fascinating piece of engineering.
I would recommend anyone to ride on this, or just view it from the street. Those Victorians were amazing engineers.

A must while in Newport, or even passing on the M4 for an interesting stop! You can go over in your car on the gondola or climb to the top and go over on foot. Great attendants as well who look after you and are chatty and easygoing. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely come back again if we are passing!

why is this not the number one place to visit in Newport, this is such a great attraction to visit. all the staff are helpful, happy and knowledgeable the tickets are fair priced and includes unlimited travel which for a big kid like me was ace and there was a nice clean seating area with grass to chill out too.
The views are amazing and this is a must visit attraction for all ages

Hi, will you be operating the gondola or be open to walk across the top of the bridge between the dates of 16th December and 20th December 2020?
Also, can you give the best suggestion for parking on either side of the river please!?
Many thanks, and stay safe :)
Can a car be taken on the gondola and if so how much is it?

How far from the train station is the bridge and what form of transportation do you recommend?
MrPeterson6855
Newport, UK33 contributions
It is about a half hour walk at the most. There is a taxi office at the train station and they will take you straight there for around £5.00.
You don't need transport to use the bridge as there is seating on the gondola that the cars go on. Or if it is open and you feel energetic you can climb the steps to the top and walk over. Have a look at the website by googling Newport transporter bridge there is a friends of page that has all the details
Hope this helps.
