There are 3 walks. Visited 2 times and have walked the shorter circular route. Wood carvings of animals throughout the area. Small waterfall, bench to stop and sit. Beautiful view of the reservoir. A good way to breathe in the fresh air. However, one concern is the ground is very unstable due to gravel and rocks and twigs. If you are like me I am unable to look at the scenery due to constantly looking at my feet whilst walking so I don't trip. Another concern is on our walk there is wooden fencing that is very unstable. It wobbles at the lightest touch. A very big health and safety problem.

i used to take my dogs regularly walking at the reservoir. since the introduction of parking charges i now go once every six months . I only walk the lower reservoir which takes an hour and for me £2.50 for an hour us expensive.
I used to park freely and then have coffee or ice cream after my walk. Now however i don't have the coffee or ice cream to offset the parking charges.
ps. they say charges are towards upkeep, i had to fight my way through ferns and some nettles on the far side of the reservoir as it was very overgrown

Have visited the Lliw reservoir many times and in all weathers. There are several options for walks - you can keep to the tarmac path or cut down to nearer the water (though this route can be muddy, and the steps down are very deep with a very wobbly hand rail!) If you keep going on the main path, you eventually reach the upper reservoir. Very peaceful, and the walk takes you through woodland open ground and along a valley with craggy rocks on one side and moorland on the other. Look for tadpoles in the water by the path in the spring. There are a few in lines but generally, until you get close to the reservoir, it’s a flat stroll. Takes about 30 to 40 minutes. The car park can be busy and if you have to park at the very end , near the gate to the path, it is often muddy so bring suitable footwear ! One good thing though is that parking is free.
There are toilets at the car park, but they are only open when the cafe is open - it closes at 4ish.
Cafe is good with a variety of snacks and lovely Icecream. The bacon they use is from a local farm and portions are good. There is a small play area for children, and a little gift shop which has some lovely items which would make great souvenirs if you are on holiday in this part of the world.

We have been here very regularly over the years, my child uses a wheelchair and we have never had any problems.
However our most recent visit left us utterly disappointed at the lack of thought for anyone who needs the use of a wheelchair. The bottom gate to enter the walk to the upper reservoir has been changed and is now no longer wheelchair accessible. Such a shame as it is a lovely walk.

Lovely setting.
Parking situation unsatisfactory if your a non mobile phone user or fail to have a bank card with you.
Considering this is a water sports venu you would think a defibrillator would be on site. Shame on you Welsh water.

Went here for the first time today and I was really impressed. Such a beautiful tranquil place to go for a walk. It's not far off the motorway (J46) and parking is free. There is a cafe there which is really handy but there are also lots of nice places to stop and have your own lunch/picnic on the way round the reservoir. The reservoir by the car park is very picturesque but its well worth walking all the way up to the top reservoir which is huge and offers some lovely views. It was about 5 miles all of the way round. The path that's on the same side of the car park is paved all the way round but if you plan on walking all of the way round the reservoir, including on the other side, then wear sensible footwear as the path is muddy/uneven. All in all a lovely place to come for a few hours.

Tried fly fishing for trout, wished I had brought some maggots or worms instead, the fish taking a bite were small fry. And some small roach.
Price to go fishing was £ 20 quid, upfront.
If you don't catch a trout, which I did,nt it's expensive.
Will be going back to Crynant fishery from Now on.
Grass verges had too much dogs mess and litter blowing around.
Cafe can be expensive.
CCTV camera system installed, so even if you just wanted to practice fly casting, this is probably prohibited.
No fishing off the rocks, on the left which is where most of the trout like to rise especially in the afternoon, early evening.
Lots of dog walkers, seen I just wished they bothered to clean up the dogs faeces.

Lovely walk around the bottom reservoir and up to the top reservoir, you can cycle to the top reservoir by following the road. A favourite walk for us with the dog. If you're after something in the cafe, make sure you take cash as they don't accept card.

It's hard to believe that this is so close to Swansea and the M4. Once you park and turn off the ignition all you can hear is silence only broken by bird song. How good for the soul is that? The cafe did a nice cup of coffee and the (clean) toilets were free - a excellent start to our walk. If you walk on along the tarmac road (the wheelchair friendly route) there is a footpath off to the left, shortly after the slipway. This leads down closer to the water and is a much more interesting walk up to the top of the lower reservoir. We were lucky in our timing as the water level was lower, exposing more of the shoreline and the path was reasonably dry and mud free. Walking the lower reservoir takes around an hour at a gentle pace, more if you want to take advantage of the picnic table at the top, where the small footbridge enables you to walk back the other side for a complete circuit.
