About
The Belfast Traditional Music Trail is a unique way to experience Irish music. With two professional musicians as your guides, walk through cobbled alleyways, past famous landmarks and on to private bars in some of the city’s oldest buildings. At each of the three stops you will be treated to a performance of traditional tunes, songs and stories, all of which make up your own personal ‘session’.

A brilliant tour, so much more that singing a few songs! I learned about the construction and history of Irish jigs and reels and Maria (flautist) and Ciara (harp) were so talented knowledgeable and fun.
We tried Irish dancing with Ciara (accordionist) which was good fun but nearly impossible!

Would thoroughly recommend this Tour. Maria has a very engaging personality and is so knowledgeable, not only about Traditional Irish Music and its history, but also about the City of Belfast. The music she and her harpist companion played was delightful and then she even produced an Irish dancer for us! We had a lot of laughs along the way

The Traditional Music Trail was a unique and very exciting exprience. The musicans were all very friendly and gave good insight into the world of traditional irish music. They explained the different forms that appear in irish music with a lot of humor. We went to a second location and on our way we got information about some sights we passed. In the end a irish dancer joined us and we were able to participate in the dancing while the music was played. All in all I'd totally recommend the trail it really gives you a great insight into irish culture.

Enjoyable tour, really informative. The experts explained how trad music developed and is continuing to thrive. We experienced displays, demonstration and ended the tour in a pub with live traditional music. The guides had a passion that shone through. A unique experience.

We had a great afternoon listening to Buzz and the other musicians. We were treated to an ensemble of Irish (Uilleann) pipes, traditional flute, guitar, fiddle and banjo and later at a different venue we watched and joined in with a fantastic world champion Irish dancer. It was a great afternoon's craic in a couple of great Belfast pubs and we learnt quite a few things about the history of the music.

This was a fascinating introduction to Irish folk music. The guides were informative and fun. We went to two traditional pubs. It was great to hear various instruments and get to do some dancing.

Heart warming experience! We went not knowing what to expect. We found a pair of musicians who play beautifully in the top room of an Irish pub. They have such passion for the music and the traditional Irish music community.
We reluctantly did some dancing at the next pub and it really was a highlight of the tour.
I wish this wee company the best of luck in all they do. I would definitely go back next time I'm in Belfast, as I am sure each experience would be different.

This was the best part of my trip to Belfast! The expert musicians in traditional Irish music were most informative, covering some of the history of the music, the traditional instruments, and the variety of timing in this musical form. The fact that there was a visit to two Irish pubs, on of which was the oldest in Belfast, provided a great atmosphere for imbuing a sense of the tradition. A young man who performed Irish step dancing was also informative about the art. There was even some audience participation in learning a reel. This was worth every minute of the experience, and I'm still remembering it and smiling about the experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone with any interest in music and dance.

A brilliant way to spend Saturday afternoon in Belfast. The guys who took our tour were great musicians.
The craic was good and we learnt a lot about trad music and the link with history on our walk through the town.
At our final stop we had a superb Irish dancer join us and some audience participation with lots of laughter.
A great experience!

I will be in Belfast Thursday, August 30 and 31st. Where would I find great trad music and folk songs?
Hey Christy, its a pity you'll miss our trail. For Thursday night there is a superb folk club at The Sunflower bar. Hope that helps.
