Overview
More
This pub attracts a wide variety of people and features great music and drinks. This traditional old Irish bar dates back to the early 18th century and has claims to be the city's oldest bar still in existence. There is a lovely traditional mahogany horse shoe shaped bar in the downstairs bar, with a raised seating area, where you can spend many hours having 'the craic' in one of the old booths. Upstairs is a more relaxed affair with traditional old booths and top notch service. The Morning Star is a Belfast favourite, where you'll have some top whiskies, gins, craft beers, cocktails and wines served by Belfast finest bar staff. We also have a great pub menu and have won numerous food awards, we are always looking at using new exciting new ingredients and also run a monthly Beef Club and a Craft Beer & Cheese Night. The Pub always has some sort of live sport on, usually horse racing with a mixture of rugby, golf, boxing or motorsports.

We ate upstairs at this old traditional pub. Service was great despite a tour group that came through while we were dining. Food was overall good - mussels were exceptional as was the rib eye. Guinness stew upon their recommendation was just so so.

Enjoyed several pints here and the bar staff and waitresses were very attentive! Ordered mussels which were tasty as well. Wasn’t too busy and had horse racing on the TVs. Enjoyable time.

The pub is hidden from the road down a narrow alleyway. Although it looks like a traditional bar, It does a good selection of food and provides table service. Between the three of us we had: Strangford Lough mussels in white wine, parsley and garlic...More

Got our food orders wrong but was nice enough when it all arrived. My burger was a little cremated. The roast beef looked good. Outdated upstairs but apparently the steaks are amazing. Wouldn't rush back

Right in town but “hidden away” !? Nice looking bar - good beer, pleasant staff. All good. No problems here.

This place was recommended by a local, and we were not steered wrong. Great food and environment. Food was plentiful and good. Beer/drink selection was equally good

We always try to fit in a visit to the Morning Star when we visit Belfast. The pub always has a good atmosphere and the buffet lunch is a must, Excellent food at a very reasonable price

Hi all, this is a bar with very friendly employees, good beer and excellent plate presentation, but I asked the Best burger in the house midium rate and they served a totally over cooked tinny burger. When I explained the situation the principal employee said...More
