This pub attracts a wide variety of people and features great music and drinks. This traditional old Irish bar dates back to the early 18th century and has claims to be the city's oldest bar still in existence. There is a lovely traditional mahogany horse shoe shaped bar in the downstairs bar, with a raised seating area, where you can spend many hours having 'the craic' in one of the old booths. Upstairs is a more relaxed affair with traditional old booths and top notch service. The Morning Star is a Belfast favourite, where you'll have some top whiskies, gins, craft beers, cocktails and wines served by Belfast finest bar staff. We also have a great pub menu and have won numerous food awards, we are always looking at using new exciting new ingredients and also run a monthly Beef Club and a Craft Beer & Cheese Night. The Pub always has some sort of live sport on, usually horse racing with a mixture of rugby, golf, boxing or motorsports.

We visited Belfast on our honeymoon and stopped at Morning Star for a bite after we finished a bus tour. The food was great! My husband got the chowder I believe, and I got some appetizers (the whitebait was delicious). All in all a nice place for a pint and a bite.

Great atmosphere. Looks like a "locals" place. Very friendly staff. Food is exceptional for a pub. My lamb chop was delicious. My wife's salmon was great also. Guinness was excellent too.

Stumbled across this pub on Saturday evening with an hour or so left before we had to head to catch our train back to Dublin. We would most definitely have liked more time here. Great selection of craft beers - I was a fan of the Maggie's Leap! - and friendly staff. We didn't get a chance to try the... More

Had a good meal here yesterday whilst visiting Belfast. We had the morning star burger which was really nice but thought the ribeye sandwich was better to be honest. Service was good and the staff helpful. We visited on a Thursday night and it was pretty quiet though we heard it's busy on a weekend so you might be best... More

Popped in with the girls on Saturday night for a few drinks, think we must have got about half way through the craft beer selection by the time we left. I see there is a new whiskey menu which we will have to get back down to try out! Always such a nice crowd of people and the staff are... More

Called in with a few friends for something to drink and watched the rugby , while there we were given some lovely complimentary chicken bits and spicy hot wings which make the cold beer go down very easily. After the free food we decided to go upstairs for a meal. We all had fillet steak which was cooked perfectly the... More

Great local beer and burgers of which they rightfully proud. Nice friendly welcome and plenty locals as regular clientele, always a good sign.
