I can recall Cornmarket being the central location for people to congregate. There was a grand bandstand which has now given way to the Spirit of Belfast sculpture. It’s still a focal point and the heart beat of the city.

I really liked this area of central Belfast. I enjoyed wandering around the lanes, watching buskers sing, and doing some shopping. It also had some nice places to have a drink.

Don't be confused by the name, there's no market. It's a fairly busy shopping street but nothing of much interest.

Cornmarket is surely the shopping hub of Belfast. Five streets lead onto/away from it and it is usually thronged with busy shoppers. Cornmarket used to have an old bandstand which played host to music concerts but this has been replaced by a rather iconic sculpture...More
