DC Tours run daily Belfast walking tours. 'A History of Terror' is a 2 hour 30 minute tour. It visits 7 sites in Belfast city centre where some of the most important events of the conflict known as 'the Troubles' took place. You will learn about the Troubles, discover the stories of the people involved, the reasons why it started, how the peace process took shape and the journey to the active, vibrant city you see today. It is the only Troubles Tour to be awarded an 'Excellent' rating by our Tourist Board. It was ranked the No.4 Experience in the U.K. by TripAdvisor in 2019. Our ‘Best of Belfast’ walking tour is your essential introduction to the city, its greater history, the stories of its people, its legends and its landmarks. Our guides are Belfast natives and experts in their fields, one was named 'Top UK Tour Guide 2019' at the World Guide Awards. The tours run in the mornings and advance booking is advised. Our 'DC Tours Belfast' app offers self-guided audio tours too.

Fantastic insightful tour for first time visitors

We had a wonderful time despite the Belfast wind and rain. Steve was our very knowledgeable and welcoming tour guide who helped paint a picture of a city defined by good people making a difference despite differences and oppression. We really learned a lot of history on the tour, spotted some great restaurants and bars, and had all of our questions answered. I would happily recommend this tour to anyone who wants to hear about more than just the obvious Titanic and Troubles to tell the stories of it's people over the centuries.

Steve was a fantastic and knowledgeable tour guide! Even on a very wet and windy day he powered through and kept us laughing all the way through. I can highly recommend this tour for an all round view and history of the beautiful city that is Belfast!

Amazing Tour

What an amazing tour. Impartial but very knowledgeable tour guide, Steve, talked constantly for the whole tour through the use of headsets. No stop start like other tours. He brought the troubles of Belfast centre and front but also gave hope for the future. Can't recommend enough!!

Trouble walk without trouble :-)

During this tour we got a lot of information about Belfast's troubled history. Our guide Paul explained all the events from the different perspectives (Catholic, Protestant and government). Paul is able to convey this complex period and its effects on daily life in a clear, neutral way. This tour (with Paul!) is definitely recommended.

Amazing tour. Steve was so knowledgeable and he gave a balanced and in depth explanation of the history of the city and ‘the troubles’ . Can’t recommend enough, we learnt so much and Steve was super friendly and informative.

Fascinating Walking Tour of Belfast

We enjoyed this walking tour so much and hate to say it, but it was more interesting than the Dublin one. Steve gave a fascinating insight into Belfast's history without spending too much time about the 'troubles'. Overall, Steve sold us Belfast, which will hopefully learn from sad events in the past that tore apart families, communities and the city as a whole. Due to the friendly people of Belfast, we feel it has a bright future and Steve's walking tour explains how we shouldn't forget the past but learn important lessons to achieve peace, equality and prosperity for all. Thank you Steve!

A must go!

I found the tour fascinating! Coming from Quebec, my knowledge of the Troubles was limited to a few clichés, heard here and there. I felt privileged to be there. The guide told us the story with honesty and empathy, with nuance. It was both educational and emotional. Several times, he made me laugh (laughter is what remains for us in the face of horror!). I only stayed a few days in Belfast and yet, thanks to the tour, I feel like I understand the culture better. You have to expect to stand for a long time, sometimes the explanations are long, but they are entirely relevant. I wasn't bored for a minute. You just need to be well dressed to take full advantage. Thanks to the whole team!

A fascinating tour packed with hidden gems and history
The tour gives a very balanced history of Belfast and is packed full of fascinating anecdotes of how connected events has shaped the city to what it is today. I was lucky enough to have Steve as my tour guide who was very knowledgeable and engaging - I highly recommend ! Cheers Steve.
