About
The SS Nomadic is known as Titanic's little sister. Built at the same time, by the same people, in the same Harland and Wolff shipyard as Titanic, Nomadic brought those boarding the great liner at Cherbourg to the ship. That was the start of an adventurous life, as she played a part in WW One and Two, carried many famous people to the great trans-Atlantic liners, became a floating restaurant in Paris and was saved from being scrapped by the people of Belfast. Now completely refurbished as a visitor attraction, you can walk in the footsteps of history, learn her story, and become part of the new chapter of her dramatic existence.

- Victoria CampbellSouthend-on-Sea, United Kingdom1,212 contributionsWould have loved to see her as a restaurant!Really interesting addition to the White Star Premium Pass. It's fascinating that she was a floating restaurant in Paris for so long, and I would love to have seen that. The main focus of the exhibit is not her role with the Titanic, although of course it covers that. Overall, interesting part of history- I would love to have seen her kitted out as a 1900s restaurant!Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 February 2024
- LeeLiverpool, United Kingdom716 contributionsReally interesting visitWe visited the ship as part of our ticket to the Titanic experience which made it extremely good value for money. This was a really fascinating visit as it was so atmospheric to stand on the deck of a boat that ferry to visitors across to the Titanic itself. The narrative is really well displayed, and the interiors are excellent. Definitely worth visiting if you have the time.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 9 March 2024
- amanda5805Duncan, Canada7,373 contributionsBack in time on the Titanic's little sisterOur visit to the SS Nomadic in Belfast was a good quick experience. This historic vessel, known as the Titanic's Little Sister, provided us with a unique opportunity to step back in time and explore a piece of maritime history. Learning about the SS Nomadic's role as a tender ship for the White Star Line, including its service during both World Wars, offered valuable insights into its significance in maritime history. Exploring the various decks and compartments allowed us to envision the bustling activity that once filled the ship during its heyday.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 March 2024
- Joe CTrowbridge, United Kingdom53 contributionsShort and sweetWe went as part of the Titanic Museum. It was interesting and good to go on the real boat that brought the passengers to the Titanic. Worth a quick visit if you are nearby, even if you don't go to the Museum as well.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 6 April 2024

- Cara L182 contributionsLovely shipVisited this museum just after visiting the Titanic museum just up the road as the entrance ticket was included. I actually enjoyed this more than the Titanic museum (which was lovely but extremely busy ) whereas the SS Nomadic in my opinion was seriously underrated. I really liked the toilets near the entrance where the flush was a lever handle :) Do not skip this museum!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 May 2024
- therichastillStevenage, United Kingdom3,238 contributionsBig BoatSS Nomadic is the last remaining ship still in existence operated by the White Star Line. They also operated the Titanic. You can visit the SS Nomadic and find out about its history as part of the Titanic exhibition. Once you have finished in the Titanic story cross over the road and head for the dry dock where the Nomadic is. Show your ticket and your explore the ship and find out more about it.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 18 June 2024
- Joasi23South Yorkshire, United Kingdom1,926 contributionsDon’t walk pastThe outside didnt prepare us for the inside, its packed full of historical features after a major revamp. So glad we didn’t walk past and made time to visit. I actually preferred this to the titanic museum which was our reason for being down at the river. No crowds jostling , and feeling packed in, we could walk round at leisure and read as much or as little literature as we wanted. Its history as a French cafe was unbelievable , glad that those involved worked tirelessly to bring it to Belfast, well done.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 August 2024
- Dave PulsNottingham, United Kingdom2,189 contributionsFree entry with Titanic Belfast ticketsWell worth visiting if you have bought a ticket for Titanic Belfast. A good compliment to the exhibition. It's small and not the main reason for visiting Belfast, but after the main exhibition it's good to see an actual ship of Titanic's era. Interesting looking around the various rooms and it's reasonably accessible.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 August 2024

Very surprised this attraction is free! And it's well worth a visit. Very good covid precautions on board. There are interactive stations/ways of showing the history and the job of a "lighter", a means of facilitating boarding and disembarking from larger vessels. I didn't leave enough time to discover all the human stories described regards the passengers on board the Titanic. Will visit again next time in Belfast.

The Nomadic is included in the Titanic ticket. It doesn’t look much from the outside but it is well worth a visit. Large parts of its interior have been restored and tell the story of the French tender. It doesn’t take long and I was glad that I had visited her.

Lovely small ship docked down at the Titanic Quarter of Belfast. Lots of information on the history of the boat and reasonably priced to enter and it's one of only a handful of things open early on a Sunday, which is incredible considerig Belfast is supposed to be a City. More things to do down this end of Belfast wpuld be a treat.

This was a very interesting visit. SS Nomadic was the tender for Titanic and is the only remaining White Star Line boat. The guides were very helpful and friendly and took time to tell us about the history of the boat and how it had come to be beside the Titanic exhibition.

It was included in the price of our ticket to the Titanic Museum. Make sure you allow enough time to walk around the boat - probably about half an hour or so. Also make a note of the last entry time... we visited at around 3.15pm and they started clearing the boat of visitors by 3.45pm even though 4pm was the closing time. We had enough time though.

I've reviewed Titanic Belfast separately, but wanted to leave a separate review for SS Nomadic as think it is worthy of being an attraction in its own right. Definitely worthwhile a visit of upto a couple of hours, so make sure you allow enough time to explore properly.
The staff were so very friendly and helpful in telling us the stories of the ship and it was so interesting to explore. Walk the decks of the last remaining White Star Line vessel (SS Nomadic - the ship that ferried passengers to the Titanic) and see the different areas for the different classes of passengers and also the crew. Luckily the weather cleared up and we were able to go out onto the top deck too, which was great. I thought this would be just a very quick visit but we actually spent nearly 2 hours here!
A visit to SS Nomadic was an unexpected highlight of our Titanic Belfast experience, it is docked just a couple of minutes walk away so be sure not to miss this!

We visited alongside seeing the Titanic Museum. This tender has such a colourful history, not only with its link the Titanic, it was a really interesting exhibit. There are 4 floors which were all really accessible using the lift. Worth a visit if you're at the museum.

Unfortunately on the day we visited we were unable to venture outside due to the weather. We were however free to explore where some of the passengers whose names echo through history, started their journey on the Titanic. The tour guide was incredibly friendly, and knowledgeable.

I have walked past the Nomadic numerous times but I decided it was time to see inside Titanics little sister.
This was much more than I had expected. I suppose I had no real idea but the boat was set out in sections along class lines and it had other little displays showing the history of the Nomadic etc.
To see up close this little piece of Belfast history was special. From the tiny details like being able to touch the rivets and the portholes, to the reconstructed interior, this is well worth a look.

Incredible restoration job on the only remaining White Star vessel.
The tender used to take guests to the Titanic was rescued in a completely dilapidated state from the Seine in France where it had been butchered and wrecked and used as a restaurant. Found and brought back to Belfast in 2006 it took 7 years to restore here. A wonderful job and fascinating piece of history. Well done to all concerned.

You can park in the titanic underground car park which is directly across from the Nomadic and costs £1.50 for the first hour and £1 per hour thereafter. There is also parking across the road (queens road) in the MET pay and display (not sure of cost) or at the Odyessy which is approx 5 minutes walk away on the Sydenham Road.

we arrive into BFS international airport on the morning of Thurs 26th Feb, will it be best to first go into the city centre and then from there get to SS Nomadic, could you tell me is there a bus from city centre, if yes, what number, where from, what is the price and how long does it take. Do we need to book in advance and what price is it for the SS Nomadic, thanking you Diane T

All answers above are spot on .The tourist office is your best bet to get up to speed on the sights of this city .
While in the area of SSNomadic just less than a quarter of a mile upthe same road ,nice easy walk , you can make a visit to T13 .This was one of the shipyards massive hangers ,used in it's day for much of the ship building that took place. Today it has many different uses, ironfit gym, skatepark, theatre productions , fashion shows ,music concerts, classes for kids in hip hop dancing and much much more, check out the T13 web site to see whats on. Whats good about this building is it still retains the atmosphere from days long gone , very different from any other tourist spot in belfast . This is as near you'll ever get to where the Titanic was built. Walk round this building ,check out the mega oil rig having a refit, don't be afraid to go into the hanger ,they are a friendly bunch . Enjoy your break
