My guide took me through West Belfast along the neighbourhoods of the Falls Road and the Springfield Road, adjoining the Shankhill Road, and ending at the Milltown Cemetery. He has firsthand knowledge of the conflicts between the republicans and the loyalists. He experienced the violence during The Troubles and was himself imprisoned three times. This tour gave me an in depth understanding of the past and present situation in Belfast and Ulster. A must for all visitors to Belfast and Northern Ireland.

This really is a must do if you are interested in the history of the Republican community. Joe was the tour guide, guy has lived through it all, he was amazing. From talking us through the first time he was ever taken (wrongly) by the Brits to seeing his pal Bobby Sands for the last time in Long Kesh, it was a quite emotional. Was freezing with wind so we popped into Hawthorns Pub for a toilet stop and a hot drink. This is a cracking wee pub and we met a few of the friendliest locals going aswell. Hopefully head back there next time I'm in town. Amongst all the mural stop were stops to memorial gardens, peace wall, James Connolly Centre, wee shop that sells amazing stuff that is attached to the Sinn Fein headquarters and then up to the cemetery to visit Bobby Sands grave, amoungst other brave Volunteers that were killed in action during the troubles. Finished off at Felons for a Guinness, sat for a good while talking away to Joe in there in a good atmosphere. All round was absolutely class. Do not miss this tour folks!!! And cheers Joe for putting me onto bottles Guinness instead of a pulled pint, it does taste better. Just hope I can find it as widely in Glasgow. Haha Until the next time......

Took the Falls Road Mural tour with Joe on Saturday. What an experience!! We can’t thank Joe enough for giving us his time and sharing his experience and fascinating insight into the struggle for freedom and peace in Ireland. Joe is the real McCoy and we could easily have listened to him recant the stories of his life all day if we had the time. A true inspiration, a gentleman and it was an absolute pleasure and an honour to meet you. Go raibh míle maith agat. Marc and Laura

A fascinating, eye-opening tour with a someone who actually lived the history. Coming from family with British paratroopers in it, it was amazing to hear the other side. Eugene was very knowledgable guide as well as very friendly and endearing personality. I went on another one of these tours with another company but the guides didn't feel as real as Eugene, he wore his heart on his sleeve, he told it exactly how it is and didn't hold back. His stories of life as a provo volunteer were fascinating and with their being only 2 of us he managed to keep it really interactive. We got the full story from how he came a member of the IRA, to what life was like before, during and after the peace process. Getting behind the scenes stories about Bobby Sands and others felt like being in a historical movie about The Troubles. I would recommend this tour to anyone, but especially to anyone who grew up in UK only hearing one side of the story, this insight will really open your eyes to the horrors that most Brits know very little about. Finishing the tour having a pint of Guinness in the Fellon's club with the very personable Eugene was great craic and a very unique experience indeed.

A chara thanks for this review and of course I will pass your comments on to Eugene. And yes he is very knowledgeable and engaging. As you will know from the tour it is important for us as republicans to make people aware from our point of view what the conflict here was about. Is mise Peadar
