What a superb idea.....having a live crib, complete with animals, period costumes, carols and candles and right in the heart of Belfast!!!! Also superb idea leaving coats on the railings.

Discovered this church near the downtown on a side street. Went in to check it to discover that a early morning service was starting. Left quietly

We were informed by a friend whom we met in Belfast that this church had a mass as Gaeilge on Sunday so we decided to attend. It took us 20 mins to walk there from Hope St. that was via the main street, if we had gone side streets it would have been 10 mins. The church was large, standard of Irish of the celebrant excellent, and we met some lovely parishioners after mass who invited us for a cup of tea in a pub across the road from the Castle Court mall

went here for the 6pm mass on the eve of St. Patrick's Day. Lovely old church on Chapel Lane with a grotto outside that was built in the 50's that is open during the day (grotto) to visitors. There is an information board outside the church that gives some background history. Original building built in the mid to late 1700's, church completed in the 1800s and the grotto built in the 1950's. Built due to the need, as before this time mass was celebrated in a farm field. Part of the pulpit that was set up in the farmfield is still inside the church. Mass celebrated twice a day but you can also just go inside to look around, or light a prayer candle, or sit quietly to pray and reflect. It sits just a few yards from the entrance to Castle Court Shopping centre, as well as across the lane from an old pub with outdoor seating/beer garden.

Happened to pass here when the 6pm mass was starting on a saturday night. Popped in, and was impressed that the building was quite beautiful, and not over adorned. For such a traditional church, it was good to see a real community here. I certainly felt quite touched when I left.

I found this church by accident while on my way to Castle Court using the small and less traveled roads. It has a nice and peaceful interior. Worth a visit to have a short moment to reflect and be introspective.
