We took my dad to Belfast for his birthday and I knew I had to take him to the gaol. The tour was just as excellent the second time and they have now made it more disability friendly by bringing up the exhibits from the...More
Had nothing much to do on our final day in Belfast so decided to visit the Gaol, So glad we did was super interesting and our guide was very knowledgeable, the tour went for just over an hour which was perfect definitely worth doing
Terry, our guide, did an amazing job explaining the history of the prison and told its stories in such engaging ways. I truly enjoyed my time there and learnt quite a fair bit in that ~1.5 hours. Eye-opening experience, highly recommend!

Yes, this is suitable for a young child. There are some very questionable sections of the tour that you may want to exclude so as to prevent nightmares in some children, but your guide will alert you to those areas and provide a "bypass" where both yourself and the child can wait, or the child can be safely left to wait for a few minutes alone, provided that the child is well behaved and obedient (else you come back to find them in places you'd rather not see them).
I would not refrain from going.
