About
Private, multi award winning, specialist Game of Thrones, Causeway Coast and All Ireland tours. Flip appeared in the series as a stand-in body double for the much loved Stark gentle giant and also for the towering Ser Gregor Clegane. You can see Flip in three iconic episodes in Season 6. Make no mistake – this is a man who knows what he’s talking about. The locations are a thrill to experience in their own right. Many are off-the-beaten track but with his insider knowledge, Flip knows exactly where they are. He’ll make sure you can get up close and personal with every one. Another key ingredient is Flip’s expertise. In fact many of the filming locations are in his own backyard. As he talks to you, you’ll find his great love of the area is contagious. He’ll also be delighted to pass on his knowledge of the geological processes that created the beautiful coastal landscape. So even if you don’t know your Dragonstone from your Dothraki, there’s plenty to discover in Flip’s company.

This is an expensive tour, was it worth it? Absolutely! My husband and I are not awash with money so this was a massive treat. I researched other group / private tours and car hire before booking and decided to go with Flip because it was clear from the get go, he is entirely focused on what you would like to do as well as having a stunning itinerary of places I would never imagined were there. Before I booked I contacted Flip as I wanted see the Giants Causeway and the Rope Bridge but also some Games of Thrones stuff for my husband. Re the Game of Thrones I’m not a fan so couldn’t explain what my husband would enjoy. Despite my utter vagueness Flip was amazing and curated a trip which just blew our socks off. So why was it so great….,,We were picked up promptly from our hotel and Flip is just wonderful, we hit it off straight away. The tour was epic, we went to countryside, beaches that truly took my breath away, caves, climbed across a rope bridge and of-course the Giants Causeway, plus numerous places in between. Honestly we had so many stops and enjoyed so many different things it was actually exciting to get back in the car and think I wonder where we are going next! So what were the highlights, for Game of Thrones Fans and non fans like me Cushendun Caves were great, my personal favourite was a beach which I’m not going to name as it’s charm was it’s seclusion and sheer untouched beauty. Driving along the coast road was fantastic and The Giants Causeway was as amazing as I hoped it would be. From a value for money perspective, having reflected on the sheer amount of what we did I think it was 2 leisurely day’s sightseeing in one day, so bare that in mind when comparing this tour to others. To be very clear you have enough time to enjoy each stop, you are definitely not rushed and you can spend as much time as you want wherever you stop. The point us Flip has somehow managed to plan this amazing itinerary where stops aren’t very far from each other so, once you’re on the coast road you spend more time doing stuff than getting to places if that makes sense. The best bit was Flip took everywhere at times which avoided the crowds, enhancing our experience 10 fold. Above all Flip is the most wonderful person, so knowledgeable and if you are into Game of Thrones he’s like a mastermind! This isn’t a job to Flip it’s a passion for Northern Ireland and I guarantee you will part as friends.

Hello Jayne Thank you so very much for taking the time to write this lovely review. It is very much appreciated. I am sure that others’ when trying to decide on a tour to book will find this very helpful. Many people are like yourselves, as in divided into two Game Of Thrones®️ camps — either fans or non-fans! I try to go that extra mile to ensure that everything is covered. It is fair to say that this is an expensive private tour product and I believe that you have explained the reasons for that very well. I would like to add that if there are 7 people together (the maximum number who can travel in my van) then that per person price is not expensive at all. I’m so glad that you both decided to book my tour and I am so very pleased that ‘I blew your socks off’…! I had such a good time with you two. Thanks for your such kind words but I don’t think I’m quite ready for the Mastermind hot seat yet! You are however right about my role not being a job. When I’m out on my tours it’s easy to show the passion that I have for this place, it’s stunning scenery; and of course, the scenes that were shot in incredible locations! Thank you again, my friend. Keep in touch and please send more people yourselves — You’re doing that already by writing such a good heartfelt review and recommendation. The black beers are on me (of course with a 0.0 one for the driver! Lol) whenever you return Flip

In a single day, Giant Tours Ireland provided a lifetime of memories for myself and my family.

Flip Robinson, the stand in for Hodor on Game of Thrones, is a giant of a man with an even greater spirit. Attuned to every aspect of this land, he interweaves history, geology, and cinema with anecdotes and stories that will leave you feeling like a part of his family.

Leaving out of Ballycastle, we visited the disappearing lake of Loughareema and the lush waterfalls of Glenariff, before heading to the Caves of Cushendun for an intimate look at the Game of Thrones filming location. We visited the crystalline waters of Murlough Bay, the expansive views of Fairhead, and had an absolutely splendid lunch in Ballycastle before heading on to the magnificent harbour of Ballintoy, Kinbane Castle, and Dunluce Castle. Flip provided an expert geologic narrative of Giant’s Causeway, and we finished with a stunning view of the famous Dark Hedges.

Genuine, gregarious, and flexible in his itinerary (I have a family connection to the area), we left Flip already planning our return and with a newfound appreciation for the band Horslips. You will never experience a better tour!

Hey Reilly Everyone should have Horslips in their lives! Haha It was such a great pleasure to show you (practically a Local through your Great Grandfather) and your family around this area in my back yard. A good lunch, great coastal scenery with a castle or two all with a wonderful soundtrack makes my job easy. I was just thinking writing that: I actually don’t have a job, it’s definitely not work as I’m on the tour too. I’m very much looking forward to your next trip to show you more! There’s always more to see and do here so keep in touch and I can help with your planning. Thanks again Reilly! Flip

My wife, mother, and I booked a custom tour with Giant Tours Ireland in 2019, which included all of the things that we initially wanted to see and do in the North of Ireland plus numerous "must see" sites/attractions recommended by Flip Robinson. It was a truly incredible experience; we fell in love with the North of Ireland and we made a new friend as well. We also gained a real appreciation for the sheer number of amazing attractions and activities available within the North of Ireland if you're welling to go "off the beaten path" a bit, so it was an easy decision to contact Flip to book a second tour with Giant Tours Ireland in 2022. During this trip, we visited a few well known locations and then we headed into "the wild country" of Donegal. You simply haven't experienced everything the North of Ireland has to offer until you've seen the spectacular beauty of the Barnesmore Gap, Fort Dunree, Errigal Mountain, the Slieve League Cliffs, and Malin Head (the most Northerly point of mainland Ireland) in person. We can't thank Flip enough for making our second trip to Ireland just as amazing as the first - we would heartily recommend Giant Tours Ireland to anyone in need of a custom tour of the North of Ireland. Thanks Flip!!!

Thanks so very much for taking the time to write this great review. It was such a pleasure meeting you all again at the airport and heading off on our adventures. I believe we packed a lot into your 5 1/2 day trip at a gentle pace. We even managed to fit in some archery at Winterfell. Definitely great to show off more of this stunning part of the world to you. I felt as if I was on the tour too as I am so pleased with my van, that was perfect for those narrow roads — it really did all the work! I look forward to helping you plan your next ‘Northern Adventure’. Until then I hope you all enjoy those memories of the stunning scenery. Thanks again! Flip

My sister and I set out to explore our Irish roots. After two fabulous SUNNY days in Dublin, where the people were as warm as the weather, we came to Belfast and began our Northern Ireland tour with Flip Robinson, the principal of Giant Tours Ireland.
Day one was Belfast with a local guide very familiar with the neighborhoods and years of the Troubles, all still too apparent in the memorials and graveyards. That night we attended a play called Project Children about kids who went to the US for six weeks in the summer to get away from the mean and dangerous streets at home. The play was fabulous, and incredibly the cab drivers who took us to and from the theatre had BOTH been part of the program as kids!
The next day was glorious, a perfect setting for the gorgeous Antrim Coast, where Flip regaled us with Game of Thrones lore and inside tales. We also saw the Giants Causeway and had lunch in Ballycastle with a longtime friend.
Our final tour was of Derry. Our guide had lost his father in the Troubles and was quite knowledgeable about Derry history. The piece de resistance of the tour and the week was finding the church where our grandfather, born in Donegal in 1877, had been baptized!
Flip was easy and fun to be with. Everything was timely and comfortable. He had come highly recommended by our Ballycastle friends and others, and he easily exceeded our expectations!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review. It was a pleasure for me to spend the three days with you both. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and was delighted each morning of your tales from the night before. You definitely packed a lot into your relatively short stay. I was truly delighted to help you find the church and explore where your grandfather would have lived as a boy. It was wonderful to witness your reactions to our combined success in finding it. I hope you both return someday so we can continue our adventures together. Thanks again. Flip

There are not enough words to express how completely amazing our day was. Flip is flippin AMAZING!! Flip is kind, patient, generous and was so flexible with all of our whims for our group of 5 ladies. He's so incredibly knowledgeable about geology, the history of his country and if you're a GOT fan like we are, he is the absolute best guide and he takes great pride in his home and the experienceof his guests. You can really tell that he wants all of the people he has the opportunity to meet, to really enjoy their experience and this will really be a tough day to beat on our Ireland journey. After a day with Flip he feels like an old friend and I hope life allows us to cross paths again. But in the meantime, I'm sending everyone Flip's way. Thank you Flip for such a fantastic day. You are truly one of a kind, I can't wait to see you on screen and tell people I know that guy, and thank you so much for giving us a day of fire🔥and🧊

Wow. thank you so very much for this “AMAZING” review and recommendation. It is so very helpful to promote me in providing confidence for others’ to book one of my tours. Please keep telling people and definitely send them my way. I would love to see you all again as I had such a fantastic day with you all. By the way, I’ve finally had a haircut following the latest filming. I’m sure I looked a sight when I arrived to pick you up. I may have looked like I had stolen the vehicle as I don’t think many fictional Vikings drive! Please come back soon to the land created by fire and ice, yet in the meantime keep sending people just like yourselves. Thank you Flip

Our tour began with visiting the beautiful Glens of Antrim and ended with crossing the Carrick -a - Rede bridge. Flip was a skillful driver as he navigated the narrowest of country lanes in the Glens. These little roads offer breathtaking coastal views and wide vistas of patchwork fields of green. There was the occasional challenge and delight of meeting up with meandering livestock on these lanes. Flip also showed us some hidden gems along the coast that made for impressive photo opportunities. He was a delightful low key guide with a wealth of knowledge. He could answer all of our questions regarding the area's history, geography and geology. Flip has a pleasant demeanor and a good sense of humor. I highly recommend booking a tour with Giant Tours. Nothing seemed canned or scripted. It was a new discovery around every bend in the road and Flip seemed as enthusiastic as we were experiencing the magic of the Antrim coast.

Thank you for this lovely review with great comments. I’m so pleased that you noted my driving skills. However, these skills are all really down to my lovely vehicle as I close my eyes too! I just love this area and find it such a pleasure to show off so the enthusiasm is something that I can easily share. I hope the memories of our time together live on. Thanks again Flip

Our cruise, NCL Dawn, was at the Belfast port from 12 noon to 9 pm on May 9, 2023. With such a late start time, our group of 6 seniors was worried that we won't get to see much of Belfast at all. We contacted Flip and we were so glad that we did. He is so knowledgeable about Ireland and GOT. We had such a great time with Flip, visiting the various sites, including the Giant Causeway Stones, Carrick Rope Bridge viewing point, Northern Antrim Coast scenery, Dunluce Castle viewing point, Ballintoy Harbor, Bushmills Town and Distillery, the Dark Hedges and many more. Highly recommend Flip. You won't go wrong with him!!

Hello again Veronica! I hope all’s going well and you and your lovely family, way over there in Canada, have great memories of our day together. Thank you so very much for your kind words and recommendation. It is very much appreciated. I love the photo of me with you and your sisters at the Dark Hedges/Kingsroad! I must say that my visits to Dunluce Castle haven’t been the same since you all. I’m missing a good sandwich! Lol Keep in touch and I hope those memories keep on going. Thanks again Flip

Fabulous day! What great memories we will always have of our day with Flip who made this corner of Ireland come alive for us. We were a family of six including one very talkative and inquisitive 15 year old. Flip was so patient with him, and all of us. He is well spoken, easy to understand and speaks loudly enough for those in the back of the van to hear. We had ample time to see what we wanted and had a lovely pub lunch.

For a tour from Belfast, look no further, Flip is the finest guide you could ever hope to have

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It was my pleasure to bring this stunning place alive for you and especially your 15 year old! Food is an important part of the tour too and allows time to simply chat! I very much appreciate your final sentence: “…Flip is the finest guide you could ever hope to have.” That’s is just wonderful! Thank you. Flip

Flip is FANTASTIC!! He fit our family in last minute and gave us a private tour around the Antrim Coast. Walked the Giants Causeway with us and got us to Carrick-a-Rede in time to cross before they locked the gate. So much knowledge about the Causeway and how it was formed - my kids still talk about how special that day was on our trip. Next time when the kids are older we will definitely do the Games of Thrones tour! Thanks Flip!

Thank you for your review and recommendation. I apologise for this late response. You’re much better timing-wise than me leaving it days after our great day out together. Thankfully I am a better guide out along this wonderful coastline than an indoor office person! Thanks again Flip
