Down Cathedral offers more than just your typical restored centuries-old church because not only do you see the Bishop's Throne, the Judges' Boxes & the old boxpews, but on the grounds is the final burial place of the remains of St. Patrick, St. Brigid &...More

The outside of the cathedral was beautiful but it was all closed up and we could not get inside. It is right near St. Patricks grave but the fact that it was locked was a bummer.

We were visiting the nearby Inch Abbey and read about St. Patricks burial site nearby. Went to visit this beautiful church, grave of St. Patrick and take in the beautiful view. Glad we took the extra time.

A " must see" on a tour of Downpatrick . The adjoining graveyard supposedly holds the final resting place of Saint Patrick . The church building itself is lovely , lots of interesting things to see .

I visited the Cathedral when I visited the graveyard to see the purported sight of St Patricks grave. The church is lovely inside. Beautiful glass windows. It's very peaceful.

When visiting the Down County museum, take a small detour to visit St Patrick's Grave and this lovely little cathedral. The ugly victorian pews that used to clutter the inside have gone, and the space is light, airy and peaceful. The gift shop has some...More

This is such a lovely church. Not as large and intricate as some of Ireland's other cathedrals but no less beautiful. They have a gorgeous organ that is still played and beautiful stained glass windows. Simple architecture indoors but still very pretty from outside as...More

This is history well worth seeing. A short hike from the Visitor Center brings you the cathedral and cemetery. It's a beautiful location and there are some signs that help you understand the importance. Wandering thru the cemetery is very interesting if you have any...More

Well developed and very interesting site. We were unable to gain access to the inside of Cathedral but the grounds and graves / monuments are well maintained and facinating

A very interesting and beautiful small non traditional cathedral. The visible pipe organ is made of wood and is non functional (but beautiful). The windows are classic stained glass windows that include at least one window dedicated to St Patrick. The adjacent burial grounds include...More

A tour group were leaving as I arrived so had this amazing place almost to myself. Info at the entrance provides an introduction to its history via paintings and the St Patrick’s Cross. It’s a beautiful construct. And inside, stained glass windows, wall plaques, flags,...More
