Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Exhilarating splash and climb day.

If you are bit of a thrill seeker looking for a fun packed adventure, I cannot recommend this day enough.

As soon as we arrived, James welcomed us with a big smile and unbounded enthusiasm for the day of coasteering and rock climbing ahead.

Apart from being an avid smiler, he is also an incredible instructor. He is extremely technically capable (which is what you want from an instructor!) and had a natural ability to read both the elements and his audience.

Personally, I am not a confident swimmer but James gave me all the confidence I needed for coasteering. He helped me relax in to the jumps and water features by talking me through each one, positively encouraging me to consider each feature without being pushy. He would also join me in the water where he could to provide practical reassurance without compromising the rest of the group’s fun.

After a spot of lunch at the Nook care of James, we headed out to a beautiful spot In Ballintoy to go rock climbing. This is the second time Michael and I have been rockclimbing with James and cannot speak highly enough of the experience. Again, James is very reassuring and has a good measure of the each person and their capabilities.

Feeling safe is paramount to success with both of these activities and James certainly is a safe pair of hands.

If you have always wanted to try one or both of these adventures but are hesitant because you don’t feel confident within yourself, this is the man to guide you. Give it a go, you won’t regret it!

Amazing from start to finish. We did wet bouldering and had a brilliant time. The activity was challenging and fun and all of us really loved it. This was the best thing we have done so far on our holiday!!

We just completed a rock climbing course with James from Geology Rocks and we had such a fab time from start to finish.
James is very knowledgeable, personable and a great guy to hang out with for the day. We got to do loads of climbing whilst learning lots too. The day flew in.
We were all new to climbing so as you can imagine some nerves but James has a way of helping build your confidence and challenging you to keep going. It was honestly a pleasure to spend the day at the quarry and I would highly recommend James and his company Geology Rocks.
We will most definitely be back for more climbing and to check out some of the other activities he does like coasteering, bouldering and lots more.
Thank you James for making our intro into climbing such a fun and enjoyable experience.

This was a fab day in the mountains albeit the visibility wasn't great. I really enjoyed the challenge and the chat on the way up, down and round Seefin & Rocky mountain.

Initially I was uncertain of my ability, however I was able to take breaks and find my pace. Our mountain leader (James) was terrific, very knowledgeable of the mountains and helpful for hints/tips for someone with little mountain walking experience. James produced the map at regular intervals for participants to match up what they saw on the landscape to the map to introduce us to basic navigation.

Getting to the top was great. It isn't by any means the highest mountain in the Mournes but a good one to start out with. I have no doubt the views on a better visibility day would have added to the experience.

I really didn't see the time go in. We started around 9.45am and were back in the car park around 2.00pm.

The Try Hiking series is good fun and worth doing if you want to see some lovely views of the mountains and to get outdoors.

James took the five of us (three adults and two children) out our first paddle-boarding trip. We had a wonderful time- James was motivating and also very patient. The children gained in confidence very quickly and were keen for another two hours! Everyone had great fun and we would definitely recommend it (and James)!

We went for the star gazing walk in the Mournes and had such a great time. I'd highly recommend. Great way to connect with the world around you, not just through walking after dark (to summit of Slieve Loughshannagh) but also the stories of Greek mythology and constellations. Lovely guides. Definitely planning to sign up for more Geology Rocks adventures after this one.

James and Louise made this course interesting and fun. Their relaxed manner put everyone at ease from the start. They were kind and generous, capable and conscientious. I would highly recommend taking any course they run. And I will be back! 😊

We, a family of 4, made up of 2 adults & 2 kids aged 15 & 12, have just had the pleasure of joining Geology Rocks Adventure for the coasteering experience. We loved every bit of it, from start to finish. The organisers (the delightful James and Louise) were superb. We had a great time being washed about in the sea and jumping into the water from varying heights. Any fears were alleviated and we all got a real thrill from this great experience. I'd highly recommend giving it a go. Thanks for some great memories

I took part in the Introduction to Navigation and Hill Skills course on 9/5/21.  Great course!  James and Louise covered lots of material, but went at the pace of the group.  And they provided lots of course notes to take away after.  Half the day was in a marquee, and half out on the hills practicing the skills.  We learnt how to navigate using a map, how to take grid references, how to use a compass, taking a bearing and walking on that, pacing, emergency procedures, advice on kit, and a lot more.  The group was maybe about 9 people, so a good size.  I'd recommend it to anyone who does any level of hill walking, and I've already signed up to the intermediate course.  Better to have the skills than to be stuck!
