Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited as a couple on a Sunday in March. I had rang the week before and was quoted a price for seaweed bath and head and shoulder massage.
I will say at this point that the massage treatment was amazing.
During the telephone conversation I was asked if I would like 2 separate baths or a bath for 2, and we opted for the latter.
The seaweed bath itself was lovely, but the steam room before it only had one tiny seat, meaning one of us had to stand, which wasn't very relaxing.
The bath certainly wasn't big enough for 2 people, and it's not as if either of us are large, I'm 5ft 3inches.
Had I known better I would have booked 2 separate baths, and really when making an enquiry having never been before I would have thought it might have been explained that 2 sharing would be a squish, and i got the impression as there was only room for 1 sitting in vtge steam room that the whole experience should have been one person only.
That said, our skin felt lovely afterwards and it was a unique experience.
When we were on our way home I asked my husband what had been charged, and it turned out to be a fiver more than what I was quoted, don't know why, and we weren't going to quibble and go back.

Hi Jo J
I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed in the service you received from us at Soak.
We have been in operation for 14 years now and we have offered the Shared bath option to people in exactly the same format as you appear to have had with very few issues. I myself am 6 ft 2" and about 15 stone and I can shared the bath comfortably with my wife. The bath is very deep, it has no overflow and is much wider and longer than the double ended bath we have at home. All the baths we have here are the same and are all suitable for sharing. The steam room has as you say has just one seat which appears to be suffice for the majority of people.
It is possible that during your conversation at booking there was some confusion over the cost of your booking given that a number of options appear to have been discussed, The price of our treatments are clear on our website and if there has been any mistake made on our part I will happily refund any additional charge. Normally in a situation like this we would prefer that a customer actually make contact with us to give us a chance to address any issues before leaving a review. We are human and are not infallible but we are honest and decent people so hopefully you will return and enjoy our services again.

I made a booking for a group of us by phone, and Paul was incredibly helpful with getting us all fitted in (I really recommend listening to the answering machine message if you call out of hours!) We were able to bring some snacks and enjoy the beautiful views over the sea between treatments. The baths themselves were amazingly relaxing, they have some great skincare products for sale, and Stephen was so friendly and welcoming. We all had a really lovely time!

Having a Soak seaweed bath is an experience not to be missed. From the moment you arrive, everything is well thought out - from getting to choose your own music and the volume it's played at to the steam shower before your soak to open the pores.
Seaweed has a multitude of health benefits and it's an incredibly relaxing experience. Paul could not have been more helpful and kind as well! Thank you! I will be back!

Easy to book online. Really friendly welcome and staff. Steam to start and then relax in seaweed bath. It really is great for hair and skin. Keep topping up with lovely roasting hot seawater on tap! Decor could perhaps do with a bit of a spruce up just to make place seem a bit less basic. It’s functional! (Yellow plastic farm buckets for your seaweed lol!). Would suggest taking adverts out of the seaweed bathroom as you want to switch off not look at promotions. Scrub and massage after in treatment room was excellent- Catherine is brilliant, very caring, so thorough, tackles every last knot and bit of tension! Left feeling like weight lifted off shoulders, literally! With lovely soft skin!

We came here in February to go hiking but the weather was not the best so we came here and it was an excellent decision. The owner showed us everything we needed and the baths were so warm. The service was great and the seaweed baths was such a unique experience. I would highly recommend this!!

We did the deluxe double seaweed bath one hour soak, it was so relaxing and we could pick our own music. Skin feels so good afterwards. We were greeted by Paul who explained everything and welcomed us in. We also had some lovely coffee and herbal teas after and we were both so relaxed. Thanks so much we will def be back.

Visited yesterday for the first time. Tbh yesterday even upon leaving I was still unsure of the experience, yet today I just can't wait to go back. Please embrace this experience, I just didn't know what to expect and that made me a little unsure but it truly is fabulous. I shared a room with 2 baths with friends. It was great fun. Music choice available for time during your bath.
Staff are lovely and really has great knowledge on the health benefits of seaweed. Very interesting.
My skin still feels soft and I had a wonderful sleep last night.

This was are 3rd stay here and as always was excellent from start to finish. Dermot and his team especially Paul are very welcoming and very helpful. The seaweed bath is a great experience I would suggest you try a least once. We had a salt scrub and massage which both were fantastic. Very professional and very relaxing. The apartment is always spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Great sea views at the front and nice views of the mountains at the rear. A great location from where it is easy to go to places like Silent valley, Tullymore forest, Murlough beach. 10 minutes walk into centre of Newcastle which has great places to eat for every taste and budget. Thanks for another great stay Dermot and team, we will definitely be back and will recommend.

Not liking spas, and not being sure what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised to find this is a really down to earth, friendly, relaxed environment. The staff are excellent, and the treatment actually works and feels brilliant. Come down after a walk in the mountains and nothing with set you right quite like this does.
The pictures look unappealing - but the feeling of the seaweed soak is incredible, and so relaxing. An excellent set-up. We loved that you could pick your own music, too.

How much would it cost for two people for the seaweed baths? Many thanks.

Does a seaweed bath help when recovering from shingles, the rash has gone but will this help with the nerve pain that is still present?

Hi there.
In order to heal any part of the body the area needs good blood flow. The seaweed bath dilates the blood vessels and increases the blood flow to the surface of the skin. We have had a few people with shingles before but usually to help with the itchy feeling the results have been good to date. Definitely worth a shot.
Hope that helps
Take care
