Originally built as a road and railway bridge, the demise of the railways lead to the bridge being converted to a two tier road bridge

Road and pedestrian bridge. Drove under it to get over the River Foyle to go home, don't understand what the fuss is about?

I know I'm definitely back in Derry/Londonderry when I drive across this unusual double decker bridge...always a thrill. Coming out into the sunshine after the gloom underneath - a metaphor for the recent history of a city beloved by both residents and visitors. We visited during the tall ships arrival, and were on the verge of joining the crew of... More

My family and I have been using this bridge since I can remember. Its upper and lower deck if always carrying vehicles. An excellent view of the river looking up towards Newbuildings and down towards the new bridge

The 2 tier bridge is very interesting. Having grown up in the city I crossed the bridge many times - often on foot. When you are walking it is a LOT longer than you think. It looks so well and is very interesting.

A rare sight now, a double decker bridge. A good sight to see and drive through but must be part of a city tour.

Travelled across the bridge to head for home after a day out in Derry. There are good views of the river and surrounding area.

I like this bridge and cross it often when in Derry. Linking the east and west banks of Derry across the Foyle it is helpful to know which deck to use to get to your destination. I have been told that the lower deck used to be used for a railway, but I only know it for road use. Taking... More
