Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The only loyalist / unionist mural I see while in Derry. For anyone who has in interest in Irish / the troubles history you will recognise the mural straight away from history books / documentaries. It’s worth going up to have a look, on this side of the city only 3% are from a loyalist / Protestant background and it can be clearly seen here in this part of the city. Have a look.

I saw these murals and slogans from the city wall and learned that The Fountains js one of the few loyalist pockets left in this part of the city.
They as arresting and confrontational like those at Bond Street but to be fair, the nationalist ones on the Bogside, which I loved, could be construed in the same way depending on your outlook.
A fascinating glimpse into the recent social history of the city.

The Fountain of the Loyalist Murals is a very short tour. You can enter from Bishop Gate, Wapping Lane or New Gate.
From speaking to some the locals living in The Fountain enclave, they stated they are the last loyalist to remain in walled city.

This is an interface area just outside the city walls, and it is a loyalist stronghold. After Operation Motorman by the British Army, sectarian violence got worse, and peace lines grew in the Fountain area. Today it is a run down area, that I wouldn't imagine is safe to walk after dark. I would not recommend visiting, as there is little to see.

Good contrast in the city's history and culture. Whereas none of the murals in the Bogside seem to glorify one particular organisation (despite what people might believe, there doesn't seem to be a reference to the IRA in any of them, mainly concentrating on civil unrest and civil rights), some of the 'Fountain' paintings do, unfortunately. For example, the UDA.
However, I particularly like the 'Relief of Derry' mural and that commemorating the Somme, 1916. (The former is based on an oil painting of the same name by P.A. Jobson).
The general area has improved considerably over the last three years and it is very safe to walk about.

In this part of derry, walk side, streetlights and some doors are in union jack colours. Murals are good and beautiful, not like the republicans, but they are good.
