Surely one of the hidden gems of Aberdeen. so beautiful and very atmospheric. You can almost hear the voices of all those who have passed this way over the centuries. Sometimes you can even see otters frolicking in the burn. Really gorgeous.

If I recall this bridge was built in the 13th century, the design where it curves was apparently to allow those crossing to take cover from any archers firing on to it from above. The whole area is beautiful, all the little houses nearby are...More

It's a bridge. You go over it to get from one side to the other, and the river flows below. Don't get me wrong - the area is really nice and peaceful, and I really enjoyed walking by the river. I just wasn't impressed by...More

Take a little time out of your busy schedule to walk around this area. Although almost in the centre of Aberdeen, you will feel the peacefulness away from the hurly-burly. Stay as long or as short as you want. A lovely retreat.

Worth finding. Very old bridge, now superceded by the new Bridge of Don and sort of hidden away. Make the effort. It's worth it

The original 13th century bridge was the only bridge north over the River Don. Nice walk between Balgownie Bridge and the newer Bridge of Don. Paths along both sides of the river wher you can see lots of wildlife from seals on the island to...More

Coming from the university Accomodation we wandered down the hill to the Brig past gorgeous old cottages and were the only ones visiting apart from locals walking their dogs. With the bridge dating back to the 1300's it truly is a piece of local history.
