Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Green is one of the oldest & most significant parts of Aberdeen, and is believed by historians to be an early nucleus plan of the medieval burgh. Also, excavations in 1976 discovered remains of a Mesolithic flint industry having sprung up here some 8000 years ago, that continued well into the Neolithic & Bronze Age. This area also supported 2 friaries in medieval times, as well as being a thriving craft and trade area with markets and breweries. Today, it still has a unique identity and romantically gothic atmosphere , with it’s tall narrow buildings , cobbled streets and eclectic collection of individual shops and pavement culture cafes and bars. The steep Back Wynd steps from Union Street down to The Green are a feature to look out for. ( Fun to go down - not so much going up!) There’s also the added attraction of looking at all the wonderfully diverse artwork and murals on the buildings and doors. The Green is presently undergoing a major renovation as the Aberdeen Market building has been demolished, and there are plans afoot to replace it with a £50 million continental market.

Kind of 'olde worlde' here, odd mixture of shops and restaurants, pubs.
Reminiscent of how Aberdeen once was long time ago.

Lovely area with interesting independent shops and good restaurants. Not the cheapest place to go buy very pleasant. Underneath Union street so even though it's centrally located it's much quieter. Cobbled streets and steps make it feel at her different and it's incredibly pleasant play to have a coffee in a warm day.

The Green is a nice enough area to explore on foot, nice market building, lovely wall painting. Well worth a visit.

Another little area to explore and with a few independent traders this makes a nice change from the usual global high street offerings.

This has been upgraded and is now much improved. This used to be where the market was held years ago and was a thriving place but is much quieter these days.
Has quite a few independent shops and some good eateries. Do not think as many people use this area now.
In the past it was more used as a thoroughfare from Union St to the station. Steps a bit slippy in winter.
