About
Established in 1965, and Aberdeen's original live music bar. This beautifully equipped, state of the art, 200 capacity venue is conveniently located where the harbour meets the city centre, between Union Street and nearby Union Square (where parking only costs £1 between 6pm and 4am). The bar boasts an impressive range of booze and specialises in absinthe, cask ale, cask cider, rum, tiki, and world beers. Live music appears every Friday and Saturday from 9pm-11pm, on an elevated stage. This typically showcasing touring bands with support from local acts. The venue is equipped with a sizeable dance floor and late night DJs on Friday and Saturday from 11pm-3am. The music on offer is of the alternative persuasion with a mix of rock, metal, punk, disco, funk, soul, electronica, and hardcore on offer, all on the same night.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I attempted to go to see Electric Eel Shock, their last post on Facebook was "STILL PLENTY TICKETS LEFT AT DOOR" about one hour before I reached it.

The guy at the door (looked like Peter Kaye in Phoenix Nights) was a bit arrogant refusing me and seemed to derive pleasure from it.

There were loca bands supporting so thought I'd try again 30 minutes before the gig started.

On arrival, another staff member was their, ushering in a couple and saying, "yeah just pay inside". Consequently, I said, "oh so you're allowing people to pay now", he replied "No it's full". When I mentioned what he had just said to the couple he lied and denied it! He said return in thirty minutes and try again.

So I did, but the Peter Kaye look-alike said no it's full. The doors then opened behind him showing a huge space in the bar.

Bizarre attitude to customers trying to support their venue and the bands playing there.

Some of the people there are evil and envious of others who show
some kind of light or positivity. A lot of these people have a lot of inner demons
that they have not resolved and will not hesitate to take them out on you if
they sense that you are having a good time by yourself.

We've had many good nights in here but after last Saturday night, 4th Nov we won't be going again. After just a couple of drinks we went there to be met at the door by the very unpleasant rude female bouncer who told us we weren't getting in as we looked "a little bit tipsy" aren't lots of people on a Saturday night? Her attitude was just terrible and obviously on some power trip! If we had come clearly drunk i would have understood but we'd hardly had anything to drink, funny we got in no problem on the Friday night after having quite a lot! We'll never be going here again, far better places to have a good night in Aberdeen. They refuse cash too, card only

Back in the day, when this place was called The Moorings, it was a great place to go for a drink and to see some live music.
However, I went to see a band here recently, ordered drinks at the bar, and was told it was ‘card only’. Really? That’s not rock ‘n’ roll in the slightest! I don’t take cards out with me. Ever. And I’m not about to start doing it either, I’ll just go elsewhere. There are plenty of music venues in Aberdeen that don’t limit the customers’ choices.

Another epic evening in the heart of the Aberdeen metal scene. Live music blasting out original tunes to make more metal memories for the masses. Always make a bee line here for the banter and wide range of bevy available on top of the top class bar team making it always a great night.

This is a bar full of cliques of fake superficial glamorourous dramatic people who wre always acting out some pathetic drama and the owner is always in the ladies toilets for some reason. Feeding the fish maybe? I've been to some good punk gigs there, but it was a different crowd. The" beautiful" dramatic shallow fake regulars didn't appear until after the band ended. I went home then too. Without going into too much detail as I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say, there is or was a bouncer who was prone to violent reactions. He put 2 of my friends in a headlock. Was ridiculous and uncalled for as neither of them was violent. One of my friends was a girl. I don't know if he still works there as I don't go anymore. Drinks are ridiculously expensive. Its all tiki cocktails that take the staff at least 15 minutes to make. It does have a lovely bathroom with a tropical fish tank, little lockers for your coat and a big comfy leather sofa. I've been to quite a few brilliant mental punk gigs there, which has given it a second star.. I don't like cliques that act as if they are superior to everyone else. Horrible.

I was trying to explain, but no way to comunicate with rough people... I move away from the ghetto, and get my drink and my money in. Not fair at all, stay away from this place, spend your time in a better place. I was wrong choosing that ghetto
