We had two lessons with Suds and he gave us both really helpful advice. The conditions were pretty flat but we still got some fun waves and our lessons were extended to 3 hours which was great. Definitely recommend. Thanks Suds! We'll be back soon!
Suds Surf School offers a great range of lessons for different activities (primarily surfing) and different levels of ability for all ages! Gave me some great advanced surf coaching! Highly recommend a visit.
Booked a lesson with suds surf school for my son aged 15 during the Easter break whilst staying in Hopeman. Arranged to meet Mark on the beautiful sandend beach who was already setting up when we arrived. Our son was kitted out with full wet...More
I had a great lesson with this surf school, considering I'm forty, unfit and have far to much wobble for a wetsuit it was fantastic. The beach is stunning and I couldn't believe how warm the wetsuits kept you and the water isn't as cold...More

We had a great time with Suds at Sandend, lessons could be arranged around our timetable; and the tides obviously... and the quality of the teaching and hire equipment was excellent, will be back again.
We organised a group of us to go surfing/paddle boarding for a friends birthday where near all of us were complete beginners and the instructors were very competent and patient in teaching us how to surf. It was a lovely location down at sandend and...More
We booked for our 3 children and they were out getting lessons all afternoon. They came back pretty cold but it was the highlight of the holiday. The two instructors could not have been more helpful and friendly

Hi Rebecca, good question. There are rip currents present if there are waves. The same currents occur at any beach with waves though. The West end of Sandend beach (nearest the houses) is best avoided as that is where the main rip channel is. Otherwise it's a relatively safe beach. If caught in a rip paddle across it and let the waves wash you in and avoid the calmer areas of surf beaches as that is where the rips will be. I explain fully about identifying and avoiding and escaping rip currents during the surf lessons. Kind regards. Suds
