Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely beach. Very peaceful and lovely walk down a steep hill. We parked in village behind the restaurant. Would recommend!

Lovely walk, not particularly strenuous but amazing scenery looking out to sea over the cliffs and by the edges of fields planting with wild flower mixes to encourage wildlife diversity. We started this walk shrouded in mist but was very pleased it lifted on the return to give us a fabulous view of the Bell rock Lighthouse in the sun. Admittedly I needed binoculars to see it clearly!

It’s been a few years since I was on a coastal path in Scotland. “When are you going to find time, to come up to Arbroath?” I often asked myself. It finally happened this morning; at 5.10am I was driving away from where we are staying in St Andrews. I listened to the messages sent to the radio station concerning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. One hour later I was reading about her great, great grandmother on the stone at Victoria Park. Sad beyond words really to add to my personal grief of losing my own mother a month ago to the day. The old coastal path feelings when on Arbroath Cliffs soon kicked into gear. The views were fabulous creating a high level of imagination. A photographer with a very friendly border collie was disappointed as he was hoping to capture some magnificent sunrise pictures. My 25 minute wait for a bus back to Arbroath from Auchmithie, 60-70 miles away from Balmoral Castle, gave me time to think of recent and past events during her reign. Since 2007, my walk has been from Dalmeny, around Fife and into Dundee and Angus. I looked north, and wondered if I could ever extend it to Montrose? I really hope so.

Walking early morning for exercise. Good tarmac path. Great stops to look at the cliffs. I’ve been walking 45 minutes in from Arbroath end and returning. Birds all over the cliffs.

Don't believe anyone who says this walk is only 3 miles long! Take good boots and plenty of time. It's at least 5.5 miles. Thoroughly worthwhile. We took the bus back to Arbroath.

The wildflowers were in profusion. This is a beautiful but sometimes precarious walk. The path is very narrow and difficult in some places. The scenery over the cliffs is spectacular.
The dog had to be kept on the lead as she might have jumped over the cliffs after the seabirds.
Auchmithie is a small historical hamlet with no shop and nowhere to get a cup of coffee if you have a dog.
It was worth walking as we managed to get a bus back to Arbroath. If there had been no bus we would have had to return the way we came as the main road eas too dangerous for walkers.

Have walked this coastal path many times on visit to Arbroath and never tire of it; stunning scenery and wildlife!!

Despite walking many times even found a cave we have missed on previous walks!! Driven into a large sea cave years ago when sea safari operated (no longer do) and this land / beach cave was impressive.

If going with dog or young kids I’d keep a close eye on them (dogs on lead) on cliffs as they can be dangerous with large steep drops in places but as long as you stick to the man made path it’s safe

A must walk when in Arbroath.
