Played the Medal course on 2nd November, sunny calm day. Front 9 very interesting, back 9 slightly less so but altogether a very enjoyable and good course. Sandwich in Royal Montrose club house afterwards, staff welcoming. Well worth a visit.

A links course which is the 6th oldest course in the world! Well maintained with the signature hole a lovely par 3 overlooking the sea. Booking advisable for the Medal course . There is the also the smaller Broomfield Course which is less taxing but very enjoyable to play. Food is available at the local clubhouses, which welcome golfers. The Barista... More

My wife and I played here. The greens were a tadge slow but true . Overall the course was fantastic. The welcome from the pro was very good. We had refreshments before and after on the Royal. Everyone was very friendly.

Great links golf courses suitable for all levels. The medal course is challenging but fair and the Broomfield Course is a delightful course to play. Well worth a visit.

We have been going up to Montrose for 5 years now and have never been disappointed. The course is the best value for money you will find in Scotland. Between the eight of us we have played, Turnberry, Kingsbarnes, Gleneagles and The Old Course and this course is up there with all of them. We are always looked after and... More

Excellent greens on Medal Course. Average length for middle handicap players. More difficult if breeze as limited shelter. Good value for money with well stocked pro shop.

East coast. May. A weather gamble..... This links course is a decent test of golf for a mid to low handicapper. The weather will have a big impact on your enjoyment of the course in that it's right on the water. We had a decent wind to content with which added to the traditional links environment made a 2 -3... More

Played this course in a howling gale and it was borderline impossible. Very tight to out of bounds on many holes and unnecessarily so on the inland ones. Nevertheless it conveys a sense of real history being one of the oldest courses in the worth and for that alone is worth a visit.
