On arrival I was greeted by a very friendly girl. She welcomed Us and our dogs. We were offered audio guides which we used. We were in for over an hour and could have been longer if the dogs hadn't been with us. There were costumed guides as well who pointed us in the right direction when we entered the... More

A fantastic place to visit if you find yourself in Inveraray. A real historical gem, you get a real sense of life would have been like having to serve time in this jail. The costumed guides are very knowledgeable and add a realistic feel to your visit. At one point I mistook one of them for one the models!!! The... More

This is a dog friendly location which is a plus. You are given some handheld sets which will give you the history of each area of the jail, from the courtroom to jail. You will need to set aside an hour (at least) to walk round but it is very interesting and there are 'prison officers' in proper costume to... More

From the outside it looks quaint & historic but once inside you learn the gruesome truth & history of the jail. Take a free interactive commentary headset with you so you hear all the tales and history. Don't miss the outside photo booth near the airing yards behind the old prison block. We got a 20% discount on entry through... More

We called to the jail for what we thought would be a quick look around but spent some time reading all the different story boards around the jail. The story boards depict some of the past prisoners at the jail. There's an audio guide which is really good too. Gives you a good idea of how the jail used to... More

If you visit Inveraray be sure to stop at this nice, little museum. You will get to go back in time and listen in on court trials and then visit the jail that the prisoners were sent to. Really interesting to see what jail life was like back long ago. Lots of life like figures and headsets tell their story... More
