    A little gem
A little hidden gem, which houses some very interesting artifacts. Especially useful is the short video which plays in the back room about the surrounding area and places of interest. Well worth popping into and free admission!. ( Although donations are welcome)

    Wonderful 'small' museum
We spent two afternoons in this 'small' museum and amazed the staff by reading all of the labels on the displays. We still bid not get all the way around! It was a really fascinating insight into the people and history of the town. I would recommend the museum and I would recommending reading all that there is to read so allow the time to so - we took about 4 hours. Chatting to the volunteers is also to be recommended.

    Racist response ruined the visit.
We received a warm welcome when we called in late in the day to the museum which is an excellent place to visit and discover more about war time Oban and the endeavours of the local people and regiments. Sadly our visit was sullied when one of the volunteers chose to display his innate xenophobia and racism with an entirely inappropriate and uncalled for response in a discussion about the stunning art deco building next door. This man, who called himself a “ squaddie” let the museum down badly. It is entirely inappropriate to have racism mainstreamed in any environment in this day and age. His colleagues need to call him out as he’s a liability and not an asset to the museum.

I went in there as I had time to kill waiting for a boat. It was lovely and was very interesting to see. It’s free but give a donation to keep it going

It was very interesting and a bit different, all volunteers running the place and they are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The community raised a lot of money to keep the museum going when they lost their last ‘home’.

Fascinating collection of articles and explanations about local history to include the local role in the World Wars. Several volunteers on hand to answer questions and elaborate. Lots of small print to read on the exhibits, which made it challenging, but they obviously wanted to squeeze in as much as they could. Donations were only cost o& admission.
